ADBioplastics wins the prize for best startup in the V Investment Forum of ESIC Entrepreneurs

The ADBioplastics company has won the best startup prize during the V edition of the Investment Forum, organized by ESIC Entrepreneurs in Valencia. «We are very proud that our idea has been awarded. The main goal is to save the planet of the currently plastics tide that we have», José Manuel Suárez, CEO at ADBioplastics, has explained. Funded by ESIC Business and Caixa Popular, the check valued at 3,000 euros has been the prize that has been pocketed by this company, which is currently in search of financing. «We presented our candidacy because we wanted to make our idea known to investors. We are sending samples to potential clients and the feedback is being so positive that we need financing to be able to set up a factory and produce on an industrial scale», Suárez has added.

The ADBioplastics project has fallen in love with the jury. «Our material, made from corn, sugar cane or sugar beet, is biodegradable and compostable. Which means that it becomes CO2, compost, and water in a maximum of 6 months» Suarez has said. Next to him and accompanying him in the pitch, the rest of the ADBio team, including two PhDs in materials. The event, which took place on Thursday, has had another 4 startups framed in sectors such as medical-health, automotive and food. Prior to the investment forum, the final of the social entrepreneurship awards was held with two groundbreaking ideas to help groups at risk of exclusion.

ADBioplastics attends the Material for Health and Food Start-ups Brokerage event in Madrid

La Nave in Madrid has hosted a unique opportunity for startups to meet with corporate and financial investors and ADBioplastics has not wanted to miss the opportunity of attending an initiative like this one.

Under the name «Materials for Health and Food Start-ups Brokerage Event», the technological platform MATERPLAT has organized last Monday, the 17th of June, the first event of these characteristics. Six startups such as Nucaps, Cianoalgae, Silk Biomed, Making Genetics, ATTEN2, and ADBioplastics have offered a pitch. An important moment when an entrepreneur briefly has a chance to market their idea to an investor. Lorena García, Marketing Manager at ADBio Composites, has been responsible to give this pitch. During 10 minutes Ms. García has had the opportunity to explain to the attendees of the advantages of the PLA-Premium to manufacture bioplastics.

After the pitches have taken place an award ceremony and B2B meetings between companies and potential investors like Repsol or members at USA-African and European Business Group, among others.

The main goal of this event has been to offer a space where national start-ups in different phases could present the development products based on materials with application in health and food through pitches to potential investors willing to support these innovative ideas. Materplat has earned the support of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), the collaboration of the Technology Platform for Advanced Engineering Materials and Technologies (EUMAT) and above all the Spanish Technological Packaging Platform (PACKNET).

ADBioplastics is a startup dedicated to the development and commercial exploitation of custom-made BIOplastics, a strong alternative to save the planet replacing the traditional plastic based on fossil fuels and very polluting.

Our material is BIObased + BIOdegradable. From the origin because they are produced by corn, sugar cane, and sugar beet to renewable and biodegradable. Our add value is that our material is also compostable. The material goes down by 90% within six months in an industrial composting process. A process that will help our target, packaging manufacturers in the food sector to fulfill the EU´s Strategy of plastic reduction by 2030 as well as contribute to make the world a better place to live, our leitmotiv.

With our background (ITENE spin-off) we are able to modify a BIOpolymer PLA into a PLA-Premium and improve its properties such as:
