Nanotechnology is presented as a progress line in R&D. New materials obtained from the nanoparticles are transforming the industry revolutionarily due to its lightness, strength andeconomic materials.
ITENE uses the nanotechnology techniques to develop or modify the materials properties used for packaging, and also makes them “on demand” with better services.
Among other research, the Institute works in the development of more resistant biodegradable materials; the introduction of active substances in containers to extend the lifefood; or obtaining materials reinforced by antioxidant or antimicrobial.
The main lines of work:
Optimization and synthesis of every kind of nanomaterials (nanoparticles, nanofibres, nanoclays and nanostructures).
Measure of nanomaterials: definition of the processes to obtain the minimum amounts for industrial tests.
Improvement of the energetic efficiency processes to synthetize the nanomaterial at big scale.
The adaptation of traditional processes materials technology to materials with nanotechnology.
Development of new materials capable to improve the ambient, physic-mechanical and thermal properties, and/or the packaging barrier.
In this way, ITENE investigates in advanced materials in services and sustainability using renewable raw materials or adding natural reinforces to improve the functionality of the traditional materials.
Main lines of activity:
Nanostructured materials by inorganics and organics additives.
Mixtures and self-assembles: adhesives, multilayers.
Cellulosic materials: improvement on the paper and cardboard acting over the core, searching in recycling fibres and developing fibres to waterproof.
Biodegradable materials from waste and other subproducts.
ITENE is a Technological Center formed as a private association with non-profit purposes of national scope, founded on May 30, 1994.
The center promotes, in general and for any type of company, scientific research, technological progress, the development of the information society and the promotion of sustainability in the fields of packaging, logistics, transport and mobility.
Therefore, ITENE´s activities contribute, directly or indirectly, to the general benefit of society and, thanks to all this, it is an organization:
