UltraScan Pro

The Beta LaserMike UltraScan system is already the industry’s leading ultrasonic wall thickness and concentricity measurement platform. Its high performance and outstanding productivity features make it the preferred solution for manufacturers. Now with the new UltraScan DSP Pro, the best is even better – and primed for Industry 4.0!

Depending on the application, UltraScan Pro gauges are available to cover various product diameter and wall thickness sizes in both fixed and adjustable transducer distance styles. Each supports multiple transducers and is capable of measuring several layers.

Powerful connectivity, communication and control. (Click image to view)
ModBus TCP, EtherNet/IP, Profinet IO – plus fieldbus for Profibus and DeviceNet. UltraScan DSP Pro connectivity supports Industry 4.0 standards and includes the foundation for future wireless connection via WIFI, BlueTooth or ZigBee.

Unique patented “Snap Technology” for automatic setup. (Click image to view)
UltraScan DSP Pro with “Snap Technology” automatically sets up the waveforms of all transducers, tracks tolerances to catch wall variations, and provides higher accuracy of average wall and concentricity measurements with assured repeatability. Capable of 25 µm (0.001 in.) wall thickness on tubes as small as 250 µm (0.010 in.).

High-speed tolerance checking. (Click image to view)
Finds short-term wall variations with high-speed tolerance checking option. UltraScan DSP Pro sends details of each error to the InControl process controller, including which transducers sent the error, max/min wall size during error, and which layer(s) contain the error.

Product category: Control equipment

Controlling the length and speed of product during continuous and semi-continuous extrusion processes is critically important to producing quality results. Speed fluctuations directly affect the elongation, surface finishing, and hardening of material. Defects can manifest themselves as surface cracking, internal cracking, piping effect, and surface lines. Obtaining accurate length measurements is also important to controlling cutting operations because it ensures materials are produced to specific product size requirements.

LaserSpeed Pro offers significant advantages over contact methods
While mechanical contact encoders can provide length and speed measurement capabilities, they do it with a low level of accuracy. These devices are subject to slippage and calibration changes caused by variations in the diameter of the measurement wheel due to dirt build-up and wear. These problems can affect your product quality and bottom line. The LaserSpeed Pro non-contact encoder directly measures the surface of your moving product with better than ±0.03% accuracy. You get the highest precision length and speed measurements for applications such as:

  • Continuous length
  • Cut-to-length
  • Speed control
  • Elongation control
And more…
LaserSpeed Pro gives you applications versatility and productivity savings
Whether you perform cold, warm, or hot extrusion processes, LaserSpeed Pro works on all products regardless of shape, color, or texture. You can use LaserSpeed Pro to measure the extrusion of metals, polymers, ceramics, concrete, and foodstuffs. If you’re looking to realize real productivity gains and cost savings, it’s time you start using LaserSpeed Pro today.

Coaxial Cable Test Interface

Model COAX-2000

50/75 ohm Cable Interface
The DCM Model COAX-2000 provides a method for testing coaxial cables providing a simple-to-use, interface between a 50-ohm vector network analyzer and the cable under test.  The COAX-2000 includes N-type female connection for both 50-ohm (range up to 6 GHz) and 75-ohm (range up to 3 GHz) cables.

Each Coaxial Cable Test Solution requires a 50-ohm vector network analyzer and VNA calibration kits covering the desired impedances and frequency ranges.
