AI for processing machines - SAM assistance system increases process efficiency

The self-learning operator assistance system SAM, developed by the Fraunhofer IVV in Dresden, supports machine operators in eliminating faults in the processing process. Machine data is evaluated using AI algorithms and the fault is assigned to a fault class. From a database filled with the experience knowledge of all employees, the machine operator is provided with information and tips on troubleshooting and machine operation. The assistance system does not actively intervene in the processes itself, but presents the information to the operator as a recommendation on a mobile device. The combination of machine learning and human experience offers you an increase in process efficiency, higher product safety and a shortening of familiarization as well as digitalization and storage of empirical knowledge in the company.
