K2019: extrusion tests and production of FV Bags in MATER-BI
Thanks to the collaboration with the most important machine manufacturers, we will present the complete production cycle of MATER-BI Fruit and Vegetable bags. It will be an occasion to see first-hand the transparency and mechanical characteristics of biodegradable and compostable bags produced with 50% of renewable content.
New grades for thermoforming and injection molding at K2019
Thanks to Novamont R&D, the new MATER-BI grades complete the foodservice range of products: thermoformed or laminated cardboard plates, cups, cutlery, bowls, single use container for finger food, straws, cups and ice cream scoops and lids. All products are suitable for food contact and are certificated according to UNI EN 13432 standard.

Mater-Bi is the innovative family of bioplastics developed by Novamont research. It is biodegradable and compostable according to the European standard EN 13432 and other international standards and has characteristics of use very similar to those of traditional plastics.
In order to protect ecosystems, avoiding soil and water pollution, Mater-Bi has been conceived for applications in which biodegradability and compostability represent an added value, such as shopping bags that can be reused to collect organic waste or foodware products “contaminated” with leftovers, or serve a function, such as mulch films. The main fields of application are: separate waste collection, agriculture, large retail sector, disposable foodserviceware, packaging.
