Extrusion lines for hollow profile sheet - CARTONPLAST SERIES

Our extrusion lines for hollow profile sheets (also called corrugated plastic sheets, twinwall sheets or corefluted sheets) are known under our trademark: CARTONPLAST.

Our CARTONPLAST extrusion lines produce sheets starting from PP, EPP (Expanded PP), HDPE and PET raw materials, in different thicknesses, weights, widths, ribs shapes & colours, as follows:

  • thicknesses (from 2 to 25 mm)
  • weights (from 250 to 4800 gsm)
  • widths (from 1200 to 4000 mm)
  • rib shapes (straight, sinusoidal, triangular, etc.)
  • colours (any).
 The hollow profile sheet is obtained by our extrusion line via a SIDE DECKLING T-die equipped with an inter-changeable spinneret/die, which offers the advantage of a quick die-change with consequent considerable saving in terms of initial investment and of time necessary for the die-change during the production process.

AGRIPAK proudly developed the CARTONPLAST exp series: an innovative-dedicated extrusion line family for the Expanded PP (EPP) hollow-profile sheets production by a successful mixing-recipe of standard PP with Chemical Blowing Agents (CBA).

Extrusion lines for monofilament & strapping tape - SPINNING SERIES

AGRIPAK team of experts, strengthened by this historical experience in the spinning & horizontal-stretching field, has recently proudly enriched the spinning production-range by a successful NEW Monofilament Line for Structural Fibers: to be used for the Structural Reinforcement of any Cement and Concrete coverage (rocky, stony, etc.), in many building applications (flooring, paving, prefabrication, etc.)  and with many advantages compared to the structural steel/metal fibers now in use, i.e : durability, ductility, higher compressive & flexural strength, no corrosion, higher adhesion to the cement matrix, highly-reduced cracking due to shrinkage and what’s more high workability of the shotcrete-jets, with homogeneous concrete distribution, no segregation and no wear of pipes or any other metal parts thanks to the total lack of bounce against any surface.

Most nowadays PET bottles/containers become waste after their usage,  causing unavoidably environmental pollution.
To address this issue, the PET structural fibers made from recycled PET and used as additional structural reinforcement to cement or concrete can be a valid and effective solution.
Likewise as for the 3D printing, a new specifically designed plastic filament  combined with Graphene has been successfully produced.

New sealing machine for hollow profile sheet - SIGNO SERIES

SIGNO is the new concept of sealing machine that contains in itself multiple devices, resulting from decades of experience in the extrusion and processing of corrugated polypropylene plastic sheets.

SIGNO is able to process any type of hollow profile sheet : alveolar, laminated bubbles (BubbleGuard) and honey-comb profiles, both in sheet or in reel.

The innovative SIGNO sealing system for hollow profiles allows to achieve high sealing standards, compliant with the ISO 62 standard, regarding water absorption by the plastic sheets. The ISO 62 standard must be respected specially in the production of the interlayer pads in polypropylene alveolar sheets.Today, thanks to SIGNO, this standard can be fully respected and extended also to the production of the hollow profile boxes/packaging for food products (meat, fish, fruit and vegetables) and pharmaceuticals.

The lightweight structure of the sealing and cutting presses, as a result of a successful combination of technological innovation and the use of new materials, allows SIGNO to increase its production cycles without compromising the quality of its sealing and cutting of the final product, even at high grammages of the sheet.

Depending on the final product request, SIGNO can be equipped with various optional accessories for a full automatic production process starting from the feeding up to the final stacking station, where the sealed product will be properly stacked on a pallet, to be then packed and shipped to the final customer.

Through the touch panel, the operator can quickly change all the process parameters, in order to quickly find the optimal configuration to process sheets of different hollow-profile, thickness, weight and size.

The SIGNO series is also equipped with an industrial router that provides complete remote access to the machine’s process data : allowing our technicians to perform remote assistance and to our machine to interface (by our BI-BOX technology) with the process datas, with the interesting possibility of sharing & integrating the same datas with the most common internal management software.

The sealing of the hollow profiles has many advantages in terms of :

resistance to compression and torsion : the air trapped inside the sheet cavities after the sealing, leads up to a 40% increase of the compression and torsion resistance of the sealed sheet itself, with the consequent relevant possibility to drastically reduce the sheet weight per square meter, without compromising its mechanical strength.
thermal insulation : the air trapped in the sealed hollow profile, acts as an insulating barrier to the thermal exchange between the two external faces of the sheet, with a consequent important increase of the insulating properties of the final product.
aseptic features : no bacteria, dust, impurities, or other organic products (such as : blood, liquids, insects,etc.) will penetrate into the hollow profile sealed cavities. These aseptic conditions are of primary importance in the food and pharmaceutical packaging fields.
reusability : the hollow profile with sealed cavities can be cleaned quickly and easily, allowing multiple reuse of the final product. (circular economy)
recyclability : no contaminant agents are entering into the sealed hollow profile, allowing the easy cleaning of its external sheet faces and its subsequent quick reintroduction into the cycle of plastics reuse - under flakes form - again in the process of new hollow profile sheets extrusion production. (circular economy)
eco-sustainability : the high efficiency of the SIGNO machine sealing process allows also the sealing of extruded sheets with high percentages of recycled plastic (up to 80%), without compromising the sealing speed and quality. (circular economy)

Our PLASTICSHEET extrusion lines are designed to process foil & sheet of PP, EPP (Expanded PP), HDPE, PET, CPET, PETG, PC, PA, EVOH, SURLYN, PS, EPS (Expanded PS), ABS, K.RESYN, STYRLUX, PMMA, PVC and PLA mono & multi-layer, via T-dies & co-extrusion feedblock, with manual or automatic adjustment.

The combination of Cast and Roll-stack technologies allows us to cover Foil production thicknesses ranging from 80 to 2000 micron, using the same extrusion plant. While our Sheet extrusion plants instead can reach up to 30mm thickness, mono & multi-layer.

Furthermore our COMPACT series is a specially designed family of extrusion lines for the production of Sheet for Thermoforming.
It is expressly conceived to achieve fully satisfactory performances both “in-line” (Extrusion line + Thermoforming machine) or “off-line” (self-standing Extrusion line), so to meet the most various exigences of our today customers’ modern factories thermoforming-oriented.

Extrusion lines for semi-foamed PVC sheet & WPC - PLASTICWOOD SERIES

Our PLASTICWOOD extrusion lines allow the production of low density (0.5 – 0.7 gr/cm3) semifoamed PVC board and Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) board. A “real synthetic wood” item, that can be furtherly finished (see our Finishing Machine), having in addition to Natural Wood the main features of the thermoplastic materials.
The extrusion of semifoamed PVC or WPC boards, starts from a PVC compound or from a WPC mixture with Chemical Foaming Agents perfectly mixed inside a turbo-mixer.
This mixture enters a twin-screw extruder and goes through a flat T-die, specially studied to grant a perfect homogeneous foaming along the total thickness and width of the board.
After the T-die, the PLASTICWOOD extrusion process is divided into two systems: CALENDERING & CALIBRATING systems.

Foaming agents for plastic / rubber applications - AUXILIARIES

Agripak represents Reedy Chemical Foam in the Italian market and in most of the European markets.

The main family of Chemical Blowing Agents (CBA) offered by Reedy Intl. Corp. is:

SAFOAM: is a CBA Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) by the FDA . Safoam products are non-toxic and food-safe. Available in microencapsulated powders or concentrated pellets, Safoam offers low, medium and high temperature foaming agents to meet unique needs with a focus on improved performance. Used in HDPE, LDPE, PP, PS, HIPS, ABS, PVC, TPE, PC, PC/ABS, chemical foam expansion can also aid in the performance of fillers like glass fibers, calcium carbonate and talc by randomizing flow patterns. Safoam can be used as a blowing agent, nucleating agent or flow aide in processes including:

- single- and multi-cavity injection
 -thick-wall structural foam and gas-assist molding
- medium-density rigid extrusions like pipe, profiles and sheet
- flexible extrusion including garden hose
- CAT-V cable and fishing line
- direct-gas nucleation of low-density sheet for food packaging
- compression-molded closures for bottles and jars.
 
The collaborative approach with Agripak and other partners leads to multi-faceted cost savings: raw material reduction, faster cycle times/extrusion throughput rates, lower energy consumption, improvements in dimensional stability and stiffness of molded parts equals fewer part rejects, fine cell structure allows for clean cuts in thermoformed sheet and better post-expansion affords a lighter part at the same specified thickness or thicker parts at same base weight.

Agripak is the outside Italy representative of an Italian company that produces PP and PS compounds for:
1. GENERIC MOULDING
They are normally used in the making of disposable packaging, housewares, construction industry.
The products are divided into 4 categories: 
• PP black 20% Black Regenerated Polypropylene filled with Calcium Carbonate at 20%: This product is normally used to produce disposable packaging (i.e. crates for vegetables & fruits) and also for some houseware (i.e. small cabinets, trash cans). This product can be easily moulded, besides being economically highly competitive; it hasn’t got specific mechanical characteristics.
• PP black 30% Black Regenerated Polypropylene filled with Calcium Carbonate at 30%: This product is normally used to produce disposable packaging (i.e. crates for vegetables & fruits) and also some items for the construction industry (i.e. “igloo”: frameworks in an igloo shape to build slabs and industrial yards). This product can be easily moulded, besides being economically highly competitive; it hasn’t got specific mechanical characteristics.
• PP white 30% White Regenerated Polypropylene filled with Calcium Carbonate at 30%: This product is normally used to produce disposable packaging (i.e. crates for vegetables & fruits) and also for some houseware. This product has got specific mechanical characteristics and it’s well defined at an aesthetic level due to its colour “Milk White” and/or “Ice White” depending upon the clients’ needs.
• PP white 40% White Regenerated Polypropylene filled with Calcium Carbonate at 40%: This product is normally used to produce house equipment (i.e. drying racks, outdoor furniture). This product has got specific mechanical characteristics and it’s well defined at an aesthetic level due to its colour “Milk White” and/or “Ice White” depending upon the clients’ needs.

2. SHEET EXTRUSION
They are normally used in the making of items intended for contact with foods & come with a certificate of conformity for contact with food.
The products are divided into 4 categories:
• PP white 70% – 1st choice white Polypropylene filled with Calcium Carbonate at 70%: This product is normally used to produce disposable dishes, glasses, cutlery and food boxes. This product comes with a certificate of conformity for contact with foods. It has got specific mechanical characteristics, thanks also to the use of virgin raw materials. The colour can be “Milk White” and/or “Ice White” depending upon the clients’ needs.
• PP neutral – 1st choice white Polypropylene filled with Calcium Carbonate at 30% and Talc at 35%: This product is normally used to produce plastic sheets for packaging (aka “Cartonplast”). It has got specific mechanical and technical characteristics due to presence of the mixed mineral filling.
• GPPS white 70% – 1 st choice white Crystal Polystyrene filled with Calcium Carbonate at 70%: This product is normally used to produce disposable dishes, glasses, cutlery and food boxes. This product comes with a certificate of conformity for contact with foods. It has got specific mechanical characteristics, thanks also to the use of virgin raw materials. The colour can be “Milk White” and/or “Ice White” depending upon the clients’ needs.
• HIPS white 70% – 1st choice shockproof white Polystyrene filled with Calcium Carbonate at 70%: This product is normally used to produce disposable dishes, glasses, cutlery and food boxes. This product comes with a certificate of conformity for contact with foods. It has got specific mechanical characteristics, thanks also to the use of virgin raw materials. The colour can be “Milk White” and/or “Ice White” depending upon the clients’ needs.

3. FILM EXTRUSION:
This product is normally used to produce diapers and sanitary pads.
LLDPE 60% neutral – 1st choice Linear Polyethylene filled with Micronised Calcium Carbonate at 60%

4. AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY
They are normally used in the automotive industry.
The products are divided into 3 categories:
• P08 black – Black Polypropylene Copolymer: This product is normally used in the automotive industry (i.e. bumpers, side bands) and also in the construction industry (i.e. pipes’ connections). It has got specific mechanical and technical characteristics and it’s possible also to get an “Aesthetic Black” with UV protection.
• 2012 black – Black polypropylene filled with Talc at 20%: This product is normally used in the automotive industry (i.e. dashboards, underhoods). It has got specific mechanical and technical characteristics and it’s possible also to get an “Aesthetic Black” with UV protection.
• 4012 black – Black polypropylene filled with Talc at 40%: This product is normally used in the automotive industry (i.e. underhhods, air-conditioning parts). It has got specific mechanical and technical characteristics and it’s possible also to get an “Aesthetic Black” with UV protection. 
By demand it’s also possible to produce different materials to be used in the making of car lights, air vents, (washing machine) drums.

In-mould punching machines - THERMOFORMING SERIES

Our thermoforming machines BM & TM series are fully automatic models for the production of items in: PS, EPS, PP, EPP, PVC, PET, PETG, ABS, HIPS, OPS, PLA and mPLA starting from bobbin.

The 22 BM/TM & 30 BM/TM models technology is based on the product SIMULTANEOUS FORMING & PUNCHING system, envisaging the use of moulds with incorporated cutting system that assure an optimal dimensional precision of the formed items. The TM series is equipped with a bottom tilting-platen that enables the use of multi-row moulds.

Both our BM & TM thermoforming machine models:

are actuated by a system of mechanical-cams, with the working cycle controlled by an electronic programmer that allows to modify the operating parameters also during machine running and to store data of different moulds.
can be combined with an extrusion plant expressly designed for the production system with in-line technology. This system enables to obtain the finished product starting directly from the raw-material granule, with remarkable advantages.

In the 50s Marco together with his brother Dino founded "Covema", an engineering & machinery construction Enterprise that soon became one of the first biggest Company leading the plastics world-scenario until the beginning of the 80s.
