LDPE Low-density Polyethylene

Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) grades produced by MOL Petrochemicals Ltd. in Tiszaújváros are sold under the name of TIPOLEN, while SLOVNAFT a.s. products produced in Slovakia are marketed under the brand name of BRALEN+.

TIPOLEN is produced by high pressure polymerisation in BASF tube reactors. Density range is 920-923 kg/m3.
BRALEN+ is produced by high pressure polymerisation in the new Basell tubular LDPE 4 line. Density range is 920-933 kg/m3.

The excellent physical and mechanical properties provide a wide range of applications of this polymer. BRALEN+ and TIPOLEN are available in a number of grades for all processing technologies as follows:

  • films
  • injection moulding
  • extrusion
  • tubes and pipes
  • blow moulding
Most TIPOLEN and BRALEN+ grades satisfy the regulations applied by the European countries (EEC). Because several European countries apply restrictive regulations for the allowed migration values of additives in packaging material in contact with food, it is recommended that customers contact MOL Petrochemicals and SLOVNAFT for special information.

HDPE Medium- and High-density Polyethylene (MDPE and HDPE)

Tipelin is a registered trade mark for medium and high density polyethylene grades manufactured by MOL Petrochemicals Co. Ltd.

MOL Petrochemicals unimodal medium and high-density TIPELIN grades (MDPE and HDPE) are produced by continuous suspension polymerisation using low pressure catalytic process under license of Phillips Petroleum Co. The density range of homopolymers and copolymers produced with hexene-1 comonomer grades is 934 - 961 kg/m3.

The bimodal high density TIPELIN types are produced by CX Process under license of Mitsui (as well as some of the unimodal polyethylene grade). This slurry phase polymerization employing a super-high-activity catalyst and a two-reactor system. (The density range of copolymer grades produced with butene-1 comonomer is 948 - 958 kg/m3.)

The wide range of grades and the careful selection of characteristics of the individual grades allow various applications including:

Blown film grades for heavy duty bags, industrial bags, shopping bags, garbage bags and packaging films for medicines and foods;
  • Blow moulding grades to manufacture household plastic products, bottles and cans for foods including oils, soft drink extracts, dairy products and large capacity barrels for household or industrial chemicals, and corrugated pipes;
  • Pipe grades for corrugated and protective pipes, steel pipe coating;
  • Sheet extrusion grades  for sheets and thermoformed sheets.
  • Injection moulding grades for houseware and industrial packaging, consumer goods.
  • Split film yarn for agricultural packaging (raschel bag, round bale net).
Most TIPELIN grades satisfy the regulations applied by the European countries (EEC). Because several European countries apply restrictive regulations for the allowed migration values of additives in packaging material in contact with food, it is recommended that customers contact MOL Petrochemicals for special information.

Polypropylene (PP)

TIPPLEN is the registered trademark for isotactic polypropylene produced by the MOL Petrochemicals Co. Ltd., while TATREN is the registered trademark of polypropylene grades manufactured by SLOVNAFT, a.s.
All types of TIPPLEN and TATREN are characterised by the high purity of the polymer and consistent quality.
The product portfolio includes homopolymers, impact copolymers, random copolymers and TPO grades.

The wide range of grades and the consequent variation of their characteristics allow
MOL Petrochemicals Co. Ltd. and SLOVNAFT, a.s. polypropylene to be used in highly
different fields of application, which are briefly described as follows:

  • Pipes (rigid and flexible, pressure pipes, corrugated, etc.)
  • Related relative fittings
  • Extruded and cast sheets, corrugated sheets, profiles
  • Extruded sheets for the thermoforming of containers
  • Rigid and flexible straps
  • Monofilaments, fibers, staple fiber, etc., Slit and split film yarn, ropes and twines
  • Non-woven fabrics (spun bonded)
  • Household articles, toys
  • Parts for household appliances, battery cases
  • Articles and parts for the electrical, automotive, electronics and textile industries
  • Injection or blow moulded containers for foodstuffs, cosmetics, toiletries, detergents and pharmaceuticals
  • High speed injection moulded food-grade containers
  • Transparent cast and blown film, biaxially oriented film
  • Furnishing (chairs and chair backs, table tops, etc.)
Most TIPPLEN and TATREN grades satisfy the regulations applied by the European countries (EEC). Because several European countries apply restrictive regulations for the allowed migration values of additives in packaging material in contact with food, it is recommended that customers contact MOL Petrochemicals and SLOVNAFT for specific information.
