About us

Company portrait

SIBUR is the leader of the Russian petrochemical industry and one of the largest companies globally in this sector. It has more than 26,000 employees. The Company’s unique vertically integrated business model allows it to create highly competitive products consumed in the chemical, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), automotive, construction, energy and other industries in 80 countries worldwide.

The Group sells its petrochemical products on the Russian and international markets in two business segments:

  • Olefins & Polyolefins (polypropylene, polyethylene, BOPP films, etc.)
  • Plastics, Elastomers & Intermediates (synthetic rubbers, EPS, PET, etc.).

SIBUR helps to reduce CO2 emissions stemming from the burning of oil extraction by-products, such as associated petroleum gas (APG), by recycling them instead. In 2018, SIBUR processed 22.3 billion cubic metres of APG thus cutting greenhouse emissions by 72 million tonnes, which is equivalent to the annual CO2 footprint of a middle-sized European country.

In 2018, SIBUR reported revenue of USD 9.1 billion and adjusted EBITDA of USD 3.3 billion.

SIBUR offers a wide range of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) grades that meet the advanced requirements of leading producers across the application universe. The revamp of production facilities allowed us to expand the range of grades and add products substituting the previously imported grades of major global manufacturers. It also gave us an opportunity to produce film grades of LDPE with additives (antioxidant, processing, slip and anti-block).

Sibur offers polypropylene of general purpose grade and special polypropylene grades.
General purpose grades that can be used in a variety of processing industries as their properties haven’t been designed to any specific segment.

SIBEX is a range of special polypropylene grades tailored to the specific feedstock requirements of each processing segment to improve the physical and mechanical properties of end products. The consistently high quality and innovative composition of solutions designed to meet each processor’s needs will help fully unlock the potential of processing equipment, improve end product quality and cut costs.
