Einar® Antistatic agents

Einar® anti-static agents are a series of functional internal polymer agents designed to deliver outstanding antistatic, mould-release, antislip and antiblooming performance for masterbatches and polyolefins such as PP and PE.

Einar® anti-static agents offer superb anti-static capabilities to polyolefin and injection-moulded products and remove once and for all the worries about food safety that come with the use of traditional anti-static agents.

Palsgaard offers four different types of antistatic agents, based on distilled monoglycerides of fatty acids (GMS-90), monodiglycerides of fatty acids (GMS-60) and polyglycerol esters. All are based purely on sustainably sourced vegetable oils and are independently tested with results superior to any standard, petrochemical antistatic agents in the market today.

Einar® Dispersing aids

Anti-fogging agents

Einar® anti-fogging agents are based entirely on vegetable oils, eliminating all worries about food contact and are independently tested to deliver superior anti-fogging performance when compared to market-standard solutions.

Anti-fogging agents are used to keep polymer films and food wrap perfectly transparent and work by reducing the surface tension of the film, so that water droplets cannot form.

Einar® internal antifogging agents work by changing the surface tension of polymer products such as cast and blown films, injection moulding and extrusion applications.

Water-based additive coatings

Palsgaard offers two innovative water-based coatings with anti-static and anti-fogging performance designed for polymer types where migratory additives fail to provide the required performance. This is the case in applications where migration is hindered by high crystallinity of the polymer or its bonding to the additive. Formulated with our plant-based polymer additives, the coatings provide an invisible layer of anti-static or anti-fogging performance.

Antistatic coatings
Einar® 1103 is a sovent-free, water-based antistatic coating solution. Uniquely efficient, it will work at coating concentrations down to 10 mg/m2. This refers to a coating thickness of about 10nm after drying. For a robust, lasting effect, surface concentrations of 25-100 mg/m2 are generally recommended.

Einar® 1103 is applicable to most polymers, including PS, PVC, polyesters and polyolefins. Tests have shown excellent performance in oriented and stretched films as well as in thermoforming and rotomoulding applications. Einar® 1103 compares exceptionally well with competing products and has proven superior performance in numerous evaluations.

Anti-fogging coating solution
Einar® 1122 is a water-based, solvent-free dispersion of food-grade antifogging additives. After coating and drying, anti-fogging performance can be achieved with coating concentrations down to 25 mg/m2. This refers to a coating thickness after drying of about 25nm. For a robust and lasting effect, surface concentrations of 50 - 150 mg/m2 are generally recommended.

This way, Einar® 1122 delivers efficient and consistent performance in applications requiring uncompromising quality, such as oriented and stretched polyolefin and polyester films, as well as thermoforming applications. Einar® 1122 anti-fogging coatings compare exceptionally well with competing products and have proven superior performance in numerous evaluations.

Coating additives for expandable polystyrene (EPS)

Einar® coating additives
With fine-powdered additives Einar® 501 and Einar® 511 Palsgaard offers the standard GMS and GTS commonly used in the industry for processing control. This enables manufacturers to create their own tailored blends to match their specific production set-ups.

Einar® 501 is an efficient vegetable-based anti-stat that will help improve flow properties of EPS beads during storage, transportation and through the pre-expansion step. Einar®501 is a fine powder with excellent coating properties and the recommended use level is 0.1 - 0.6% depending on EPS bead size. Smaller beads require higher concentrations due to a higher specific surface area.

Einar® 511 is a cooling time enhancer and will help reduce cycle times in the moulding process. Einar®511 is a very fine powder and has high coating efficiency and should be used at loading levels of 0.1 - 0.4% to obtain the best performance on cooling time. 

Einar® coating additive blends
Blends offer a very convenient way to apply EPS coatings. It is an all-in-one solution where there is no need to handle several different individual products. The complete coating formulation is an easy-to-use pre-blended formulation offering easy dosing and accuracy, better and faster handling and options for additive inventory optimization.

With blends Einar® 531 and Einar® 533 manufacturers get the double effect of both cooling time enchancers and anti-static additives. The ratio of the blends are based on industry standards offering maximum effect.

Blends such as Einar® 543 and Einar® 544 offer a very convenient way to apply EPS coatings. These all-in-one solutions complete with zink stearate eliminates the need to handle several different individual products. The complete coating formulation is an easy-to-use pre-blended formulation offering easy dosing and accuracy, better and faster handling and options for additive inventory optimization.

Slip additives

Einar® 621 is a food-grade slip additive which matches the specific requirements of PET processing. It is very stable chemically and in terms of temperature, even under demanding processing conditions. Owing to its excellent lubrication properties, PET films and injection molded items containing 1.0-2.0wt% of Einar® 621 show instantly significantly reduced surface friction.

Einar® 621 is fully compatible with fillers, which might be used additionally as antiblocking agents.

Ageing modifiers for PE and PP foams

Einar® 601 for antistat applications
The use of efficient antistats in PE and PP foam is particularly important in the packaging of sensitive electronics, where static build-up may may result in electrostatic discharge that will be detrimental to circuit boards and other electronic components. Einar® 601 is a proven performer, delivering excellent antistat protection to PE foam even at low humidity conditions. 

 Einar® 601 has no adverse effect on foam stability. The product is a 100% amine and amide free solution and will not interact with ageing modifiers such as Einar® 207. Due to its chemistry there are also no issues with stress cracking of polycarbonate when packaging materials are in direct contact with packaged electronic components.

Einar® 201, 204 and 207, efficient ageing modifiers
The high consistent quality of Einar® ageing modifiers guarantees reliable and dependable performance when PE and PP foam is conditioned after manufacture for release of excessive blowing agent. Concentrations vary with the blowing agent as physical blowing agents require higher concentrations compared to chemical blowing agents.

Einar® 201 is a very reliable general purpose mould release for PP injection moulding applications. The product can be dosed at an optimum concentration in both homopolymers, random and impact copolymers and will secure efficient release of moulded parts. Palsgaard to showcase UN-backed food waste solution at K 2019

A food waste solution with a unique history will be showcased at the forthcoming K 2019 expo (16-23 October 2019 in Düsseldorf).

The new anti-fog coating is the result of Palsgaard’s participation in a United Nations initiative. The Danish company’s strong sustainability credentials led to it being invited to take part in the UN’s SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) Accelerator Programme.

The result was pioneering new product Einar® 1122 – an anti-fog coating for industrial packaging which keeps food looking fresh and desirable at low temperatures. As consumers tend to choose visually appealing products – leaving those with foggy packaging to decay – it helps reduce food waste, contributing to UN sustainability goals.

Additionally, Einar® 1122 delivers excellent performance in applications such as stretched polyolefin and polyester films, where it compares exceptionally well with competing fossil-based products.

Like all Palsgaard’s solutions for the polymer industry, Einar® 1122 is plant-based and food-grade (it is sourced from sustainably produced vegetable oils.) This makes it completely safe, overcoming growing consumer concern about harmful additives in polymer products.

Safety, sustainability, superior performance: Palsgaard showcases food-grade polymer solutions at K 2019

Palsgaard will highlight the benefits of food-grade solutions for the polymer industry at K 2019 (16-23 October 2019 in Düsseldorf).

Palsgaard offers additives for a wide range of polymer applications. All the solutions in the company’s Einar® range are food-grade and food-approved (they are sourced from sustainably produced vegetable oils.) This makes them completely safe, overcoming growing consumer concerns about harmful additives in plastics and packaging.

Additionally, rigorous testing has shown that Einar® products perform as well as, or better than, fossil-based alternatives. Solutions on show at K 2019 will include:

  • Anti-fogs, including Einar® 1122, a new water-based solvent-free dispersion of food-grade additives. Ideal for stretched polyolefin and polyester films, it delivers anti-fogging performance at low coating concentrations and compares well with competing products
  • Anti-statics, including Einar® 601, an amine-free solution for anti-static protection in polyethylene (PE) applications
  • Mould release solutions, including Einar® 201, a reliable general-purpose mould release and de-nesting additive for PP applications
  • Dispersing aids, including Einar® 101, which disperses pigments more effectively than industry-standard waxes
