Process with Ease when Specifying VICTREX PEEK high performance polymers

VICTREX PEEK polymer is capable of being processed on conventional thermoplastic equipment. Unfilled and filled grades may be supplied in the form of pellets, powder or ultra-fine powder. Pellets are generally recommended for injection molding, extrusion, monofilament and wire coating operations. Powder is used for compression molding while fine powders are generally used for coating processes, composite pre-preg manufacture and compression molding.

VICTREX PAEK POLYMER FOR ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING

Victrex has developed new PAEK materials that have been optimized for additive manufacturing, including filament fusion (FF) and laser sintering (LS). These new VICTREX™ PAEK polymer solutions have been developed as filaments and fine powder respectively. They will be commercialised over the coming months, and are currently available for beta testing in select projects.

In laser sintering, the new polymer grades have shown encouragingly low refresh rates, improving the recycle of unsintered powder, while maintaining good mechanical properties. In fusion filament fabrication they have improved mechanical properties and printability.

Improved technologies for 3D printing (3DP), also known as additive manufacturing of VICTREX™ PAEK, can open up a range of possibilities for design engineers. Potential benefits of using PAEK polymers for additive manufacturing can include:

Victrex awarded important automotive quality standard IATF 16949 for manufacture of gears

USA design and manufacturing facility proves its power to perform: PEEK polymer-based gear solutions available for both ICE & Electric Vehicle Powertrain platforms, and also, on display at K 2019 tradeshow.

Victrex, an innovative world leader in high-performance PEEK and PAEK* polymer solutions, has achieved a new milestone for its automotive offerings. Its gear design and manufacturing facility in Grantsburg, USA, has received the IATF 16949 certification**, proving that the necessary systems and capabilities in line with Tier1/OEM needs are in place. At the international K 2019 tradeshow in Düsseldorf, gear solutions will also be one focus at the Victrex booth (Hall 5, B 09).

** IATF 16949 is an International Standard that assesses quality management systems to ensure: continual improvement; effective defect prevention; reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain and also includes specific requirements and tools for the automotive industry. It defines the fundamental quality management system requirements for automotive production, service and/or accessory parts organizations.
