Packaging Machines

True to our production philosophy, our blow-moulding machines in the xBLOW series are available as an electric (EBLOW), hydraulic (HYBLOW) and hybrid version. The clamping unit developed by Bekum with its patented C-base frame ensures a symmetrical distribution of force, regardless of the drive technology selected, and high parallelism of the clamping plates to deliver the best possible moulding of the article by means of a perfect pinch-off during the blow-moulding process. Clamping force build-up times of 100 ms for sensitive plastics, the magnetic quick-change system for changing the blow mould in just 15 minutes, and availability of 100% of the clamping force without manual adjustment are just a few of the innovative and impressive features. The xBLOW series is the solution to your packaging requirements – reliable, versatile and fast.

Industrial Machines

By providing innovative and energy-efficient drive technology, BEKUM offers its customers the optimal prerequisites for high-performance production of industrial blow-moulded articles, in particular for canisters ranging from 10 l to 35 l and small drums up to 60 l. For the fully automated single-station production of 20 l lightweight canisters, the output rate was increased to up to 240 pcs./hour by means of an external cooling station and punching station. Because no energy is required to maintain the clamping pressure, energy savings of up to 50% can be achieved on automated blow-moulding machines compared to classic, hydraulic blow-moulding systems. The fully automated adaptation to mould thicknesses reduces the set-up time, along with the manual adjustment times otherwise usual on the market.

Large Blow Moulders

The integration of robots, camera systems, post-cooling baths and laser marking are part of our product portfolio, just like the latest control technology and process data analysis provided by our large blow-moulding systems are. They are particularly reliable, boast a long service life and an impressive extrusion concept. The precise regulation of the clamping motion and the exact plate guidance are standard features of all BEKUM large blow-moulding systems, ensuring optimal formation of the pinch-off edge can be achieved with different moulds and materials. Advantages of the flexible single-station and double-station systems are short drying times due to the high travel speed, reliable synchronisation of the distribution of clamping force – due to a uniform force transmission using 4 external locking mechanisms, which guarantee a long service life for the mould pinch-off edges – and low force and energy requirements due to the low masses being moved. The extrusion concepts employed in co-extrusion guarantee perfectly distributed wall thicknesses and EVOH barriers, resulting in increased productivity due to material savings.

Economic Line

The robust and compact 3-plate clamping system of the Economic Line ensures easy accessibility from all sides for changing moulds, the cooling water connection and for Bowden cables, and can be optionally upgraded with a self-centring quick-change mechanism. It is characterised by high clamping force and a fast build-up of clamping force, along with low moving masses for a minimal dry cycle time. Generous amount of free space below the clamping systems for unobstructed parison flow and waste transport.

H-Machines (US)

The highest selling American H-series from Bekum America Corporation requires very little floor space due to its compact design. With automatic central lubrication and a centralised service connection, the H-series is the inexpensive and high-performance blow-moulding machine with short delivery times.

3D Machines

The Bekum insertion and robot technology allows three-dimensional blow-moulded parts such as 3D filler necks and air ducts to be produced economically and with virtually no waste. Identical processes in the 1st and 2nd station ensure a high repetition accuracy when doing so. The distribution of the layer thickness is optimised by using a 7-layer spiral mandrel extrusion head. This processes the plastic material with high precision, and minimises the need for the cost-intensive barrier material EVOH. An important feature for ensuring flexibility in production is offered by simultaneous production of two different articles on each clamping unit.

About us

Company details

FROM A PIONEER TO A GLOBAL MARKET LEADER
Bekum  is one of the world's leading manufacturers of extrusion blow-moulding machines. Hollow articles such as bottles and canisters are made from plastic on our machines. Numerous inventions and patents – some of which now form the industry standard for today's blow-moulding machines – were developed by Bekum. We consistently pursue the ongoing enhancement of this technology, which allows us to continue to offer our customers innovative solutions for a wide variety of applications.

Our family company was founded in Berlin in 1959 and now employs a staff of 350 in three plants. Our company operates in Berlin, Traismauer (Austria) and Williamston (USA).
