With its PH series product handling systems, ILLIG offers a variety of different stacking systems depending on the technical properties of the thermoforming machine in the production line. Because the product properties also depend on the quality and reliability of the downstream machines in the production line. The different stacking stations range from a simple manual part removal to a fully automated stacking system with feed units to downstream machines, such as a cup rim rolling machine, bag or sleeve packer, and more. The formed parts are either moved directly into a stacking magazine with an ejector in the tool, or picked up and held in place by a vacuum system during the transfer phase and then stacked. This avoids deforming the formed part and improves part cooling.

ILLIG PHF 80 Product Handling System

The ILLIG PHF 80 product handling system is integrated at the end of the ILLIG thermoforming line for stacking and packing the formed parts in a fully automated process. The combination of the ILLIG PHF 80 product handling system and thermoforming machine accelerates production and increases productivity. The new PHF 80 product handling system utilizes the full cycle speed potential of the thermoforming machine, increasing the productivity of the line. The interfaces between the forming machine and the PHF have all been perfectly adapted to one another for all modes of operation. With the PHF 80, ILLIG offers a complete solution from transferring the stacks of formed parts from the forming machine to packing the stacked parts in bags up to a maximum length of 600 mm. A guided tool change enables quick retooling times and more flexibility for changing production. The fully automated handling of formed part families is also possible with the PHF 80.

The PHF 80 can be added to an existing production line at any time and is available for the following thermoforming machines: IC-RDK 54, IC-RDK 80, IC-RDKP 72.

RDM 76K 4G Automatic roll-fed machines for forming/punching operation of 4th Generation

The automatic pressure-forming machine RDM 76K 4G with a forming area of 760 mm x 540 mm is a thermoformer of the 4th generation. The completely newly designed double servo drive of the production system ensures shorter movement times and thus faster cycle times. By using a center support for the lower machine table, ILLIG increased the closing force by 50 percent to 900 kN. As a result, the cutting length can be utilized by up to 50 percent more, the service life is extended and productivity in increased. The ILLIG thermoforming machine is ideal in particular for products with a high draw ratio and part heights of up to 255 mm. The 4th Generation system with facilitated material handling processes material film from the roll or inline directly from a connected extruder using combined in-place forming and pass-through punching tools. The electronic parallelism setting of upper and lower table reduces secondary times which adds to higher availability. In spite of the extended material heating device the total length of the line is reduced compared to previous series, due to the integration of the newly designed PH 76 product handling device which allows direct interlinkage with different end packaging solutions.

IC-RDKL In-Mold Labeling Unit

ILLIG has expanded the decoration technology, in-mold labeling in thermoforming, IML-T®, with the new decoration unit IC-RDKL. This enables the economical production of brilliantly decorated lids. The IC-RDKL can be integrated into existing IC-RDK 80 production systems. Manufacturing costs of decorated thermoformed lids are 20 percent lower than injection-molded lids since the weight is substantially lower, the output is higher and machine investment is lower. With IML-T® systems the operator benefits from high flexibility by fast format and tool changes with low tool costs at the same time.
