New hybrid ALLROUNDER 1020 H for Packaging

The large, hybrid ALLROUNDER 1020 H in packaging version celebrates its premiere at the K 2019.   This new size machine in modern clamp design and with GESTICA control unit features a distance between tie bars of 1,020 millimetres, a clamping force of 6,000 kN and a new size 7000 injection unit. This is also available for the ALLROUNDER 1120 H machines and offers a maximum shot weight of around 4,200 grams polystyrene. The hybrid HIDRIVE high-performance machine series combines the electrical speed and precision of the clamping unit with the hydraulic power of the injection unit.
The exhibit produces eight PP cups in a cycle time of around four seconds, around 30 percent recycled material is used. The cups are automatically removed, stacked and packed in tubular films.  The thin-wall packaging application is also a practical example of a closed circular economy. In this case, ARBURG cooperates with EREMA (hall 9, stand 05), which provides recycled PP and processes the cups to PCR material (post-consumer recyclate) at the trade fair.
ARBURG has bundled numerous activities in the new “arburgGREENworld” programme, which rests on four pillars: "Green Machine", "Green Production", "Green Services" and "Green Environment”. The primary goal is to conserve resources and thereby make a significant contribution to production efficiency.

2C ALLROUNDER 630 A: Foaming with PCR material

With an electric two-component ALLROUNDER 630 A with a clamping force of 2,500 kN, ARBURG shows how PCR material derived from household waste can brought into the cycle again to produce durable technical products. To produce handles for the safety door of ALLROUNDER injection moulding machines, the exhibit is equipped with two injection units size 800 and 290 as well as a 1+1+1 cavity mould. The PCR is processed in the ProFoam foaming process and the two foamed door halves are mounted in the mold. For better haptics the handle will be partially overmoulded with a soft TPE component. The cycle time is about 62 seconds. The handling is performed by a new MULTILIFT robot system.

During the ProFoam physical foaming process, a granulate lock ensures a continuous feed of material and gaseous blowing agent.With their fine cell structures, ProFoam parts are characterised by low weight, few sink holes, uniform shrinkage and greatly reduced distortion. As well as reducing weight by up to 20 percent, the mechanical properties and component quality can be specifically improved.

ALLROUNDER 570 A – turnkey system produces goggles

On an ALLROUNDER 570 A with a clamping force of 2,000 kN and GESTICA control system, ARBURG will demonstrate a particularly "smart" turnkey application. The electric machine is integrated into a turnkey system and produces sophisticated goggles in a cycle time of around 45 seconds. Pick-up and transfer for optical inspection, laser marking and packaging is handled by a six-axis robot. In addition, the production cell is equipped with the new filling assistant as well as the ARBURG Turnkey Control Module (ATCM) SCADA system, which enables 100% traceability of the parts.

ALLROUNDER 270 A produces LSR micro parts

An electric ALLROUNDER 270 A, equipped with a size 5 micro-injection unit and 8-cavity mould, will be manufacturing microswitches from non-post curing LSR. The material is premixed by means of a LSR-cartridge and injected with an 8-millimetre screw according to the first-in-first-out principle. The part weight is a mere 0.009 grams, the cycle time around 20 seconds. The moulded parts are picked up by a MULTILIFT 3+1, optically inspected in the gripper, separated according to cavity and finally packed in paper bags. Such microcomponents are used in the automotive and medical technology sectors.

ALLROUNDER 375 V overmoulds inserts

The production of hybrid components is demonstrated by a vertical ALLROUNDER 375 V with 500 kN of clamping force, which features compact automation in the form of a MULTILIFT SELECT robotic system mounted on the machine base. The inserts are provided as a roll and the contacts are overmoulded to form hybrid connectors in a cycle time of around 15 seconds. At partner Plasmatreat (hall 11, stand G04) the pre-moulded parts are assembled and finished on an electric ALLROUNDER 470 A with a clamping force of 1,000 kN.

ALLROUNDER 470 A: Films with electronic functions

An electric ALLROUNDER 470 A with a clamping force of 1,000 kN demonstrates how functional products can be produced using IMSE technology (Injection Moulded Structured Electronics). In this process, films with integrated electronic functions are inserted into the mould and overmoulded with PC. As a demonstrator, the injection moulding machine produces a night light in a cycle time of around 75 seconds. This application, automated by a six-axis-robot, is an example for digitalisation in the automotive interior.

The processing of a plastic-bonded magnet material is demonstrated on an ALLROUNDER 370 E GOLDEN ELECTRIC with a clamping force of 600 kN. The 1+1 cavity mould allows for a very flexible production without conversion: alternatively, a toothed wheel or a magnet wheel is injected. Handling of the parts is performed by a MULTILIFT SELECT robot system.

„Smart“ ALLROUNDER with new filling assistant

On an ALLROUNDER 570 A with a clamping force of 2,000 kN and GESTICA control system, ARBURG will demonstrate a particularly "smart" application. The new filling assistant is integrated into the control system, meaning that the injection moulding machine "knows" the moulded part it is to produce – in this case a pair of Uvex goggles made of PA12. ARBURG developed the filling assistant together with its Aachen (Germany) based partner Simcon. The simulation model created offline and the geometry are read directly into the control system. At the GESTICA, the degree of part filling, relative to the current screw position, is animated in real time as a 3D graphic. The machine operator can compare the results of the simulation created offline with the filling performance of the last cycle interactively on the GESTICA monitor. This results in benefits with regard to set-up time, safety and efficiency.
Stand "13A13" at K 2019 offers more digital ARBURG world than ever before. The idea of 'arburgXworld' stands for much more than the customer portal of the same name. The filling assistant is one of the novelties of the digital product and service portfolio.

ARBURG will present the latest technological progresses featuring ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF) that open up completely news applications. The open system works on basis of qualified standard granulates. The two freeformers 300-3X and 200-3X cover a broad spectrum for industrial additive manufacturing. The freeformer 300-3X processes three components using the APF process to produce even complex functional parts in resilient hard/soft combinations with support structures. If required, it can be automated and integrated into complete production lines via optional interfaces. At the K 2019, a new freeformer will give a technological outlook on how fibre-reinforced components can be produced in future using ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF).

Launch at K 2019: arburgGREENworld

Numerous activities – both for customers as well as internally – have been bundled in the new arburgGREENworld programme, which rests on four pillars. The first three pillars – GreenMachine, GreenProduction and GreenServices – relate to offers for customers while the fourth pillar – Green Environment”– includes ARBURG's internal processes. The primary goal is to conserve resources and thereby make a significant contribution to production efficiency.

With two exhibits, ARBURG presents at the K 2019 its expertise in terms of circular economy and the conservation of resources:
The new hybrid ALLROUNDER 1020H in Packaging version produces eight PP cups in a cycle time of around four seconds. For this practical example of a closed circular economy, around 30 percent recycled material is used. ARBURG cooperates with EREMA (hall 9, stand 05), which provides the recycled PP. At the trade fair, EREMA recycles the containers as an example showing how PCR material (post-consumer recyclate) is made from packaging.
An electrical two-component ALLROUNDER 630 A processes a PCR material (post-consumer recyclate) derived from household waste in the ProFoam foaming process, the second material is TPE. The The injection-moulded part is a handle for the safety door of ALLROUNDER injection moulding machines whose two halves are mounted in the mould. This is followed by partial overmoulding with the soft component. This application illustrates a way to reintroduce PCR material into the cycle to produce high-quality, durable functional parts.

Stand "13A13" at K 2019 offers more digital ARBURG world than ever before. The idea of 'arburgXworld' stands for much more than our customer portal of the same name At ten interactive stations along the "Road to Digitalisation", visitors are able to learn more about smart machines, smart production and smart services. New to the digital product and service portfolio are, for example, the filling assistant and the plasticising assistant.  ARBURG’s six proven assistance packages, the ARBURG host computer system (ALS), the ARBURG Turnkey Control Module (ATCM) and the ARBURG Remote Service (ARS) will also be presented at K 2019. All ALLROUNDER injection moulding exhibits are provided with so-called "Basis Connectivity", i.e., they have an IIoT-Gateway and can be interconnected with the higher-ranking ARS and arburgXworld" customer portal systems easily and standardised using interfaces. In addition, there are further apps and functionalities for the customer portal such as the SelfService, the Dashboard for the machine status and the control system simulator.
