WIPAG is ideally equipped to process technical plastics through re-pelletization:

Both single- and twin-screw extruders are available at the WIPAG locations together with the required ancillary devices.

These ancillary devices consist of mixing silos for homogenisation, circulation driers to pre- and post-dry the bulk material, all-metal separators, gravimetric dosing equipment and screening equipment to separate under- or oversize particles.

Advantages of re-pelletization:
Melt filtration removes all non-meltable impurities as well as particles with melting points above the processing temperature of the end product. The latest filter technology makes it possible to use extruder screens with a mesh size from 80µm upwards.

Uniform pellet size results in uniform melting behaviour of the plastic during the injection moulding process.

It is also possible to use additives to adjust the properties of the materials to meet customer requirements.

From formula development to expertise in the use of additives – at WIPAG, we have comprehensive knowledge of the compounding of plastics.
Adjustment of material properties:

filler content
UV protection
impact strength
mould release
odour improvement
reduction in emissions

Odours and emissions: important issues in the automobile industry
We achieve TVOC reductions and improved odours through our new formula; this is especially advantageous for polyolefins which are now increasingly being used in vehicle interiors.

A real-life example of targeted improvement of material properties
The properties of polycarbonate blends such as PC/PET start to deteriorate as soon as the plastic is injected for the first time; the effects of this deterioration include a higher melt flow index and a reduction in notched impact strength.

Using the right additives, the recycled material can, however, be restored to the quality level of new material.

Carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CRP)

Carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CRP) is very light and stiff and consequently a very attractive material. Up to now, it has been very difficult and costly to use CRP for product manufacturing. Now WIPAG´s carbon-pellets make it possible to use the material for the relatively easy procedure of injection molding. Furthermore, WIPAG can produce its carbon-pellets cost-effectively because it uses secondary carbon-fibers.

About us

Company details

The innovative recycler for the automobile industry
WIPAG recycles plastic production waste from several industries with its main focus on the automotive industry.

In the post-consumer area, we recycle used bumpers from crash–repair and ‘end of life’ vehicles.

Our special expertise lies in the development of processing and separation technologies.

Since autumn 2014 we produce a thermoplastic carbon compound. In our specially developed procedure we process cost effectively virgin plastics and secondary carbon fibers.

WIPAG has been a reliable partner for the automotive industry for over 20 years and enjoys an excellent reputation in the industry as an innovative recycling enterprise.

Founded in 1991, WIPAG, a family business run by its owners, is a market leader in the development and utilisation of innovative separation technologies.

Decades of experience, outstanding competence in our team of employees and constant training and advanced training measures are our key success factors.
