DryCleaner™ Furnaces

Industrial Dry Cleaning Oven Process
DryCleaner Furnaces (industrial dry cleaning oven) clean metal parts by the process of pyrolysis, which is literally "burning without flame" or the chemical decomposition of organic material by the action of heat. The material on the metal parts must be cured, meaning no solvent vapors are present. During the industrial oven cleaning process, organic material is driven off as smoke leaving only a thin layer of ash, which can be easily removed with a water rinse. The smoke is then processed through a 1400°F afterburner, consuming the remaining pollutants and exhausting into the atmosphere primarily water vapor and CO2 which is invisible, odorless and harmless. DryCleaner industrial drying ovens use a simple water spray "fire extinguisher" system based on furnace temperature to prevent ignition or over-heating.

Controlled Pyrolysis® Ovens

For parts with up to 15% combustibles
Maximum 800°F (427°C)

PCPC's Controlled Pyrolysis® models have a highly effective patented system that anticipates and prevents overheating. The ovens have a highly sensitive control system for added protection and operational flexibility. These furnaces can remove the same combustible materials as Dry Cleaner models, but in greater quantities: 2% to 15% by weight.

Included in the ovens are primary and back backup water spray features with multiple built-in safety features.

Located in the afterburner stack, this sensitive system (U.S. Patent 4,270,898) monitors the rate of smoke emission from the parts by measuring the stack temperature. When the stack temperature reaches a preset point, the stack controller turns on a water spray mist to cool the parts, lowering the smoke emission rate before it reaches an ignition state. The water spray also activates if the oven temperature exceeds its set-point temperature by 30°. A back-up water spray activates should the water spray nozzles become clogged or malfunction in anyway. Additionally, a manual-reset high-limit temperature controller turns off the primary burner if the oven temperature controller should fail.

RateControlled™ Oven

For parts with up to 25% combustibles

RateControlled models allow you to strip parts with greater loads of combustibles, even oil-soaked transformers. RateControlled models combine all of the features of Controlled Pyrolysis® models with a more advanced system of detecting overheating.

The rate controlled ovens are an excellent choice for varying load sizes or highly combustible amounts. They have faster overheat response times than the controlled pyrolysis ovens and are built to FM standards with high fire afterburner.

The RateControlled model's advanced temperature control system detects overheating when it begins, allowing processing of materials that are difficult if not impossible to control, such as volatile combustibles like oil-soaked transformers, partially-cured paint films on grates, and other hard-to-process materials. Some combustibles start to decompose at lower temperatures than others and, therefore, more difficult to keep from igniting. The RateControlled System monitors the rates of furnace temperature increase, the afterburner temperature and the rate of smoke emission. Should any of these accelerate too fast, the rate controllers turn on the water spray to restore safe operation. The rate controllers are factory-set and require no operator input.

PCPC's InertGas ovens (U.S. Patent 4,557,203) expand the Controlled Pyrolysis® process with enhanced cleaning capabilities. InertGas furnaces leave the primary burner on during the initial "pyrolysis" stage of the cleaning cycle to produce an oxygen-deficient atmosphere inside the furnace (10% oxygen versus the usual 21% as in the air). Lower oxygen eliminates the danger of fire and allows for the safe processing of highly combustible materials in large volumes. During this initial "pyrolysis" stage, the IntertGas furnace temperature controller and the stack temperature controller each operate double water spray mists at double set-points for maximum protection. During the final "oxidation" stage of the process, the primary burner cycles on and off, increasing the oxygen level in the oven to completely oxidize any remaining char or carbon off the parts.
