History and Growth
Although Tricon is a relatively young company, the long-term industry experience of our personnel has rapidly propelled us to a prominent position in the markets in which we operate. Initiating business in 1996, Tricon has expanded from office headquarters in Houston, Texas to include operations offices in ten countries on four continents with many more agents. And our worldwide presence continues to grow.
Initially Tricons business focused on relationships in Latin America, but we soon diversified our activities to create an even distribution of trading partnerships in North, Central and South America; Europe; the Middle East; Asia and Africa.
The diversification of our product range and our global expansion have paid off; today we enjoy relationships with over 1,000 customers and over 400 suppliers and conduct business in more than 100 countries.
The volumes that we move have increased annualy by more than 15% since 1999; and in 2008 we sold almost three million metric tons of product with revenues in excess of $2 billion.
We firmly believe a company is only as good as its people.
The experience and the expertise of our founders gave the company its start, but the years of subsequent growth can also be attributed to our careful selection, integration, training and motivation of staff.
We look for the best – whether they are industry veterans or new graduates out of college.
Tricon currently employs some 100 staff as traders, logistics and operations experts, financial professionals and in other positions. Together they represent a wide variety of nationalities and experiences around the world.
Yet more important than their backgrounds, Tricon looks for a number of key qualities in each member of our team: integrity, creativity, drive and a desire to go the extra mile to get the job done well.
