AZOTE® is the group brand for a variety of polyolefin foams manufactured from differing base polymers in a range of densities from 15kg/m3 to 115 kg/m3.
PLASTAZOTE®, EVAZOTE® and SUPAZOTE® are world-wide registered trademarks for the current polyolefin foam product range. PLASTAZOTE foams are LDPE and HDPE materials whereas EVAZOTE is an EVA copolymer and SUPAZOTE is a super-soft EVA copolymer. Flame retardant, conductive and static dissipative variants are also produced for special applications.
ZOTEK® is Zotefoams range of high performance foams manufactured from advanced engineering thermoplastics… materials with outstanding physical properties.
The ZOTEK® F range is based on PVDF fluoropolymer and provides outstanding flame, smoke and toxicity performance. The Company also markets T-Tubes™, an advanced tube and pipe insulation system, manufactured from ZOTEK® F and specifically developed for stainless steel process lines in cleanroom environments.
ZOTEK® N is a range of polyamide (nylon) foams that offers strength and exceptional high temperature performance, along with outstanding resistance to hydrocarbons.
MicroZOTE® is a range of micro-cellular roll foams in both polyethylene and polypropylene. These foams are produced using supercritical nitrogen or carbon dioxide as the sole blowing agent.
AZOTE® foams can be used as core materials in panels, in preference to honeycomb structures, where surface finish is important and insulation properties are of high priority. These panels may be used in refrigerated vans, trailers and containers, mobile homes, etc.
AZOTE foams are available in a wide range of densities with varying stiffness characteristics offering a range of properties to the panel maker. They are also compatible with the majority of resin systems utilised in manufacturing composite panels, do not exhibit out-gassing tendencies and have good adhesion properties.
When it comes to food contact applications, AZOTE® polyethylene foam is the material of choice. The inherent purity of the product due to the unique Zotefoams process combined with a choice of FDA compliant resin makes it suitable for both packaging/logistic applications but also technical applications such as seals & gaskets.
Clean Insulation System
The inherent sanitary nature of the T-FIT® Clean product range, makes it the ideal insulation system for use in those plants and facilities that require a food contact grade material; enabling a high degree of sterility to be maintained, whether insulating long and densely packed Holding Tubes within the dairy & beverage industry, or multi-use lines within the general food & bakery industry that require high pressure steam cleaning after each run of ingredient; T-FIT Clean is the only insulation system that can meet, and exceed all of these challenges.
Plastazotes extensive use in Medical, Healthcare & Cosmetics applications
Plastazote® is acknowledged as the most cited thermoplastic material in medical literature. The material is used extensively in a wide variety of medical and health care applications, many of which involve direct skin contact. Where a more resilient softer feel is required, Evazote® is often the material of choice.
Latex-free, non-toxic and hypoallergenic, the use of Plastazote and Evazote foams reduces skin irritation. These foams are also X-ray, CT and MRI lucent making them ideal for a range of splint and support applications as well as MRI vests.
Both AZOTE®, more specifically Plastazote® , and ZOTEK® F foams are used extensively in the aerospace civil, business and military aviation. They have closed cell structure, giving low water absorption and low water vapour permeability, excellent insulation characteristics and good durability, allowing both long life and flexibility when fabricating parts.
Being closed cell, ZOTEK F foams are being used increasingly to replace PVC Nitrile, Silicone and other foams, which are too heavy, dont meet the radiant panel test requirements or are open cell and can potentially absorb moisture.
Special flame retarded grades of Plastazote foams are able to meet the requirements of FAR/CS 25.853(a) App F Pt I. Additionally, ZOTEK F grades, being inherently non flammable, are able to meet the Radiant Heat Panel test FAR 25.856 (a) App F Pt VI and have low smoke density, low toxic gas emission and low heat release. The new ZOTEK F grades designated ZOTEK F HT offer an additional operational temperature limit of 160°C, an improvement of +50°C over the current ZOTEK F range. They also offer enhanced chemical and solvent resistance, combined with higher levels of structural rigidity.
All of these closed cell foams can be converted easily using traditional foam fabrication techniques such as sawing, routing, gluing, laminating, welding and die-cutting. They can also be thermoformed into complex single component structures providing many benefits over multi-layer foam systems, such as weight and cost reduction.
