AGGLOREMA by EREMA: Efficient Recycling of Contaminated Film Waste

At K 2025, EREMA presents AGGLOREMA – a new recycling system designed to convert heavily contaminated post-consumer plastic waste into high-density agglomerates. These are ideal as input for chemical recycling, enabling more efficient use of low-grade film fractions in a circular economy.

AGGLOREMA processes highly contaminated plastic film waste with:

• Bulk densities starting at 30 kg/m³
• Moisture levels up to 12%

This is achieved using the Preconditioning Unit (PCU) in combination with Counter Current® technology and a specially designed extruder screw. The system ensures stable processing without the need for upstream drying – even with fluctuating input compositions.

The processed material is partially melted and fed directly into a water-cooled melt mill, producing agglomerates with defined particle size and a bulk density of 280–380 kg/m³. Optional drying steps can reduce residual moisture to below 1%.

Further system benefits:

• Throughput up to 2.3 t/h, scalable for industrial needs
• Simplified layout for robust, energy-efficient operation
• Process temperature is minimised – only as much energy as needed

AGGLOREMA delivers a pourable, standardised output that meets the requirements of chemical recycling reactors. It also supports mechanical recycling, such as the reuse of mixed polyolefins for basic components.

EREMA's CHEMAREMA® line complements AGGLOREMA by offering direct melt-to-reactor feed. These systems are built for:
