What advantages does it offer compared to conventional stretch films?
Herrmann: With CAMM, there is no need to compromise on performance for sustainability. Our stretch film meets the same properties as conventional film without harming the environment. It is biodegradable (land, water, marine environment), home and industrial compostable, water-soluble, free of nano- and microplastics and recyclable. It is also very thin, which optimizes material consumption. CAMM stretch film is particularly beneficial in the construction industry, as the film dissolves quickly and does not need to be removed after inserting components.
What do you think the (plastics) packaging industry of the future will look like? What specific contribution are you making here?
Herrmann: Packaging is everywhere and we can't live without it – it keeps our food fresh and our products safe. But the environmental cost is too high, so we all have to rethink. Existing solutions to plastic pollution often lack one of three dimensions: true sustainability, commercial feasibility or scalability. CAMM is not just another material with a sustainability label – it integrates all three dimensions and can be designed for any end-of-life scenario: biodegradation, composting, dissolving in water, or recycling.
As one of the most versatile sustainable materials available, CAMM is applicable across various industries. It can seamlessly comply with industry standards and adapt to a wide range of production processes. Our strong partnerships across the value chain are the driving force behind commercial scalability, ensuring that we create genuine impact.
