PET Youth Camp for Sustainable Plastic Management

Indorama Ventures, a global leader in sustainable chemical production, has partnered with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and its Department of Education to host the "PET Youth Camp for Sustainable Plastic Management." This initiative aims to educate and empower young leaders from BMA schools in effective plastic waste management, with a focus on PET recycling.

Indorama Ventures has long been dedicated to promoting sustainability in the plastics and rubber industry. By launching the "PET Youth Camp for Sustainable Plastic Management," the company underscores its commitment to addressing the global challenge of plastic waste. The camp brought together 60 students and teachers from 20 BMA schools, providing them with practical knowledge and skills to manage PET waste.

Participants engaged in a variety of educational activities designed to enhance their understanding of plastic waste and recycling. Key sessions included: 

• Types of waste and plastics: Detailed exploration of different types of waste and plastics, highlighting the importance of proper waste segregation.
• Recycling innovations: Introduction to the latest innovations in recycling, aimed at reducing plastic waste.
• Communication and leadership training: Empowering students with the skills needed to lead change in their communities.

A highlight of the camp was the visit to the Wongpanit Suvarnabhumi Recycle Station. Here, students gained hands-on experience in waste management and PET recycling. They learned about the processes involved in waste sorting and the economic value of PET waste, reinforcing the practical aspects of their training.

The PET Youth Camp is part of the second year of the Sustainable Plastic Waste Management project. This ambitious project aims to educate 40,000 students across 337 BMA schools by 2025. By fostering a new generation of informed and proactive leaders, Indorama Ventures and BMA are making significant strides towards a more sustainable future.
