In an effort to combat the environmental impact of plastics production, Borealis and Infinium have entered into a strategic partnership. Together, they will produce polyolefins, a type of plastic commonly used in consumer goods such as packaging, medical devices, and appliances, from carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere.
This partnership will utilise Infinium eNaphtha, a low-carbon alternative to traditional naphtha, to produce these plastics with an ultra-low carbon footprint. Robert Schuetzle, CEO of Infinium, highlighted the significance of this move, stating, "With Infinium eNaphtha, Borealis will create plastics with an ultra-low carbon footprint for customers and end consumers seeking more sustainable, environmentally friendly alternatives."
