Trelleborg buys coated fabrics businesses and divests rubber boots facility

Uretek and Archer develop and manufacture urethane-coated fabrics and rubber-coated fabrics respectively. Their products are used across multiple segments, such as aerospace, healthcare, outdoor recreation, government, and defence. The businesses have manufacturing facilities in New Haven, CT, and in Milford, MS, USA, respectively. Total sales are mainly in North America and amounted to about SEK 480 million (~ EUR 52.2 million) in 2013.Furthermore, Trelleborg has signed an agreement to divest a facility that manufactures rubber boots for light vehicles. The business operation is based in Spain and is part of the Trelleborg Industrial Solutions business area. The buyer is the French group Delmon Industrie S. A.The Swedish group is active in the production of polymer boots for drive shaft (constant velocity joints) and steering systems (rack and pinion) for light vehicles. Trelleborg supplies boots in TPEs and in rubber. The company said that market demand for TPE boots for constant velocity joints and rack and pinion is steadily increasing, while demand for rubber boots is shrinking. Therefore it is divesting its Spanish business operation that solely manufactures rubber boots for constant velocity joints. The divestment does not affect the company's TPE boots operations. Sales from the operation in 2013 amounted to approximately SEK 150 million (~ EUR 16.3 million). The transaction is expected to be concluded in the third quarter of 2014.
