First plastic bags -- K Trade Fair
© Archiv [dim_it:pic_desc]The Horten department store in Neuss / Germany started distributing the first plastic bags 50 years ago. It is an anniversary that no-one is celebrating, although it may perhaps be the last chance to do so: following the ban on light bulbs, polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) carrier bags are in danger of being prohibited too. To get plastic waste under control, EU Commissioner for the Environment, Janez Potočnik, Slovenia, is considering making the bags illegal. As an alternative, discussions are being held about making them considerably more expensive or imposing a special tax on them, in order to create an incentive to reuse them and thus to cut consumption. Nothing has been decided yet...[/dim_it:pic_desc]
