Predominantly small reductions or rollovers / Prices of PC and PA 6 move in different directions / Advisory panel expects largely stable prices for August

In July 2026, the trend towards slightly lower prices seen in the previous month broadly continued in the engineering thermoplastics market. Some rates also remained at the previous month’s level. For polycarbonate and PA 6.6 in particular, however, the PIE panel reported highly divergent price movements, ranging from substantial reductions to sharp increases.
Across almost all materials, producers were observed to be maintaining the high price level of contracts even when granting reductions. They granted price concessions through special deals but only took into account the called-off volumes in the relevant contract agreements. As a result, the previous system of contract agreements was undermined.
Supply was ample for all materials, as demand across all sectors left much to be desired during the summer holiday period. This trend is likely to continue in August, when the holiday season affects large parts of Europe. Market players are proceeding on the assumption that prices for engineering thermoplastics in August will not show much change.
