US compounder and distributor PolyOne (Cleveland, Ohio; www.polyone.com) has launched ColorMatrix SmartHeat RHC additive dispersion for rPET and PET bottles. Accredited by the Association of Plastics Recylers (APR, Washington, D.C. / USA; www.plasticsrecycling.org), SmartHeat RHC enables greater recycled content in PET bottles by improving the resins thermal stability during the recycling process.

PolyOne said the additive allows higher concentrations of rPET without compromising packaging aesthetics or performance, as well as improving preform and bottle colour, clarity, mechanical strength and processability. SmartHeat Tint and SmartHeat Tone are also available for applications requiring colour or toning.
