Sinopec and SK Global Chemical last month established a joint venture to operate the Wuhan project, which will produce 20 types of petrochemicals with a total capacity of 2.3-million t/y. Sinopec holds a 65% interest in the venture, with SK holding 35%.
The $2.9-billion project is designed to produce 300,000 t/y of high-density polyethylene, 300,000 t/y of linear low-density polyethylene and 400,000 t/y of polypropylene.
