THAILAND: Rubber farmers in Nong Khai switch to cultivate other crops

A 34 year-old rubber farmer in the province said that many farmers are planting other types of crops to generate more income in order to compensate for their losses in para rubber farming. Among the most selected crops are pineapples and bananas, which at the moment, can fetch a rather high price and meet high demands in the market.

Pineapples require a less amount of watering and the selling price at the field is 7-8 baht per kilogram, which is considered a very good deal.
