T-PLAS, the International Trade Fair for the Plastics and Rubber Industries, concluded last week on a strong note, having exceeded expectations in attracting a turnout of 7,345 high quality visitors from more than 50 countries over the 4-day exhibition.
“The exhibition presented a comprehensive range of machinery and equipment, processing solutions and services catering to the needs of both the domestic and international audience. In fact, visitorship at T-PLAS 2015 grew by 20% compared to the last edition, despite the security and safety concerns in the aftermath of the recent crisis in Bangkok. This growth is testament to the relevance of the exhibition and the demand of the plastic and rubber sectors in the region,” said Gernot Ringling, Managing Director, Messe Düsseldorf Asia.
T-PLAS 2015 saw an impressive line-up of leading international and regional companies including the who’s-who of the industry that showcased new technology, machinery and equipment. Also present were national pavilions and country groups from Austria, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan and numerous plastics and rubber supporting industry associations. Representing a 15% increase in exhibitor participation compared to 2013, the biennial exhibition received outstanding feedback for attracting a targeted and relevant audience from the plastics and rubber industries from both the private and public sectors.
Affirming T-PLAS 2015’s position as a leading exhibition for the plastic and rubber sectors, Alf Hofstetter, General Manager of Leistritz SEA Pte Ltd noted: “T-PLAS is the largest plastic exhibition in Southeast Asia, and if you want to be active in the Southeast Asian market, it is the choice platform to go to.”
T-PLAS 2015 took place once again concurrently with PACK PRINT INTERNATIONAL - the 5th International Packaging and Printing Exhibition for Asia, where the synergistic co-location of these two exhibitions proved to be a major success with the trade visitor cross-over for the packaging and plastics market that were serviced by the flexible packaging market with their machine applications. “The packaging and plastics show [PACK PRINT INTERNATIONAL and T-PLAS] is very important to us and when you find this combined in one place it is even better”, said Fritz Wimmer of EREMA Engineering Recycling Maschinen.
The exhibitions were officially opened on 26 August by Her Excellency Dr. Atchaka Sribunruang, Minister for Industry, who stated that the exhibitions come at a time where Thailand’s manufacturing sectors are heading on an upward curve – reflected in the expansion of Thailand’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at 2.8%. “Manufacturing in Thailand is the most important sector and accounts for 34% of our GDP, and the timely, co-staging of PACK PRINT INTERNATIONAL 2015 and T-PLAS 2015, which brings together these four sectors under one roof –serve as that one-stop, opportune platform for industry players to tap on the burgeoning market opportunities through the building of business networks and exchanging of expertise. And from it, heighten Thailand’s manufacturing and service sectors to international standards,” she said.
New technologies and Strong sales on the show floor
Wittmann Battenfeld, one of the major suppliers of injection, moulding machines robot and the complete peripheral equipment for injection moulding also recognized these positive growth patterns, and Dr Werner Wittman, said: “The Thailand market has become one of the most important markets in Southeast Asia for us, this is also the reason why we are participating at T-PLAS!” The Austrian exhibitor was showcasing a servo-hydraulic machine ‘SmartPower’ for the first time in Thailand, which was successfully sold during the exhibition. Available in clamping force sizes from 25 to 120 t, this new machine boasts of precision, efficiency, compact dimensions and user-friendliness.
Arburg also delivered its first ‘Freeformer’ to Asian consumers – demonstrating the machine live at T-PLAS 2015. One of the world leaders in injection moulding, Arburg also presented a high speed injection moulding machine to the packaging market. David Chan, Regional Managing Director of Arburg, explained that: “We see a big future here, which is why we are we here to present our latest machines at T-PLAS to the ASEAN market.”
With a show floor abuzz with activities that included strong sales of high-precision machinery and specialised equipment onsite, many exhibitors also reported securing several future orders. The concurrent events held alongside T-PLAS 2015 were also a success and very well-received by the industry. Seminars such as the Advanced Injection Technology Conference held on 27 August by the Tool & Die Industry Association and the Plastic for Medical Industry Seminar held by the Plastic Institute of Thailand on the 28 August were full-house events.
T-PLAS 2015, delivered an exhibition and concurrent events that were designed by the industry for the industry to drive international businesses and the Thai Industry forward.
