SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association, West Region, is inviting members and nonmembers alike to discover for themselves why Techmer PM (Clinton, TN) received a visit from President Obama and Vice President Biden in January 2015. A tour of the company's facility in Rancho Dominguez, CA, is part of an SPI West Region workshop, scheduled for September 10 from 2:30 to 7 PM.
A producer of value-added master batch and engineered compounds for the plastics industry, the privately held, family-owned company is part of the Department of Energy's Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation consortium, which groups 122 company partners and members, including Techmer PM through its subsidiary, Techmer ES. The subsidiary was launched in 2004 to develop products that can operate in extreme environments of temperature and stress, says the company. After touring the Techmer PM plant, Obama announced the creation of a $250 million manufacturing innovation hub aimed at strengthening U.S. leadership in next-generation composite materials.
