On 7 May 2019, plastics processor Rompa (Tilburg / The Netherlands; www.rompagroup.com
) acquired the ITB group (Boxtel / The Netherlands; www.itb-group.org
), a manufacturer of engineering plastic and metal precision components. "The takeover of ITB group fits perfectly within our growth strategy," says Patrick Gerard, CEO of Rompa.
ITB supplies sectors such as automotive, packaging, healthcare, E&E, energy, household appliances and consumer goods. The group operates production at its Dutch headquarters and at two additional plants in Kladno / Czech Republic and Querétaro / Mexico. Due to health reasons, director and owner of ITB, Hans van Dooremalen, had decided to take a step back and look for a new owner for his company. This provided Rompa an opportunity to expand its market share and global presence.
Rompa uses injection moulding and thermoforming processes to manufacture plastic products for automotive, consumer goods, medical devices and industrial applications, among others. Its production network includes sites in the Netherlands, Germany, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, China and the US. A spokesperson told PIE that both companies will initially operate in parallel for one to two years. ITB will then later be integrated into the Rompa group and renamed.
