Everything seems to be coming up roses at the opening of NPE2012 in Orlando, FL.
My first-day impression is that attendance is strong, with slightly more than 50,000 registered. Exhibitors (1,950) are filling out the entire (and expansive) Orange County Convention Center (OCCC). Exhibitors feel they are seeing high-level attendees who are interested in talking business. That's a reflection in part of strong operating results in the plastics business in the past 18 months. Many exhibitors are also pleased that the show provides a greater opportunity to see customers and prospects from Latin America.
About one-quarter of all attendees are expected to come from outside the United States. Of those, about 40% are from Latin American countries. Foreign attendance is up 30% from NPE2006, which is a better reference point than NPE2009, which was held in the depth of the deepest economic recession since the 1930s....
