MedPlast adds silicone extrusion to its quiver


Only recently did custom injection molder MedPlast Group add extrusion blowmolding to its slate, and now the company has added another process, this time silicone extrusion, to those it tackles for its customers.

As the design of medical devices grows increasingly sophisticated and cost pressures mount, it's up to processors to meet these demands, according to Dan Winter, director of development for MedPlast's elastomers division in Elkhorn, WI. With the addition of silicone extrusion to the company's spectrum of production capabilities, MedPlast is better able to handle the multiple processes needed to create critical medical products such as catheter systems, surgical drains, intravenous drug delivery vehicles, and pump systems.
