MIDDLE EAST: Iran, Turkey and Egypt mull creation of International Petrochemical Assn.

Abdolhossein Bayat, managing director of NIPO, said Iran would also discuss the creation of such an association with several other Islamic countries in the near future. "Currently with the presence of Iran, Turkey and Egypt, the core establishment of a petrochemical OPEC has been formed,” Bayat noted.

The Turkish Plastic Industrialists Federation confirmed that it "was decided that all preparations of the proposed association were to be completed” during a meeting in Iran during the first quarter of 2014.
