MALAYSIA: Government imposes provisional anti-dumping duty measure on BOPP imports

The new measure shall take the form of a provisional anti-dumping duty guaranteed by a security equal to the amount of the dumping margin determined through a preliminary investigation.

The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), in a statement issued in Kuala Lumpur, said the provisional anti-dumping duties ranging from 6.87 per cent to 21.43 per cent, will be applied on imports from the alleged countries and shall be effective not more than 120 days from the date of the government gazette.

The decision was taken as a result of the completion of the preliminary investigation on the import of BOPP which is alleged to be at a much lower price from the domestic market.

The government completed the preliminary investigation as provided under Section 23 of the Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Act 1993.
