Hold your soda: Coca-Cola isn’t being sold in plastic bags


Earlier this week, the packaging community was buzzing about the idea that Coca-Cola has introduced bottle-shaped plastic bags in Central America.

News outlets from MSN to the Daily Mail to Gizmodo all ran with the story claiming that the idea behind the initiative is that consumers are given a low-cost, degradable option, while the product is still able to maintain its classic Coke bottle shape.

A video went viral showcasing why Coke made the change, along with displaying people of all ages drinking their soda from a plastic bag.
