Bluestar Silicones expanding U.S. manufacturing, R&D in Charlotte, NC


Bluestar Silicones USA (East Brunswick, NJ) says it will acquire a large manufacturing facility in Charlotte, NC to expand its North American manufacturing and R&D operations, and will relocate its current manufacturing operations in Ventura, CA and Rock Hill, SC to the new site by mid-2013.

The Charlotte complex consists of 147,000 ft2 under roof situated on 19.4 acres of land. Bluestar Silicones, which was established in 2007 when China National Bluestar Corp. acquired Rhodia Silicones, says the new site, a former textile chemicals factory, provides growing room needed to support its global five-year strategic plan to become a leader in the silicones sector.

"In addition," says J. Christopher York, president of Bluestar Silicones North America, "this investment will greatly improve our day-to-day operational efficiencies to become even more responsive to market needs."
