A complete portfolio for different markets. That is what Braskem, the largest thermoplastic resin producer in the Americas, introduces at the K Fair. Supported by its strong focus on innovation, the petrochemicals firm launches its new polyethylene (PE) resin, Braskem Flexus Cling, at the show. The new resin was developed especially for extrusion processes for stretch films, which are used by manufacturers to protect cargo during transport, and reach the market to complement Braskem’s current portfolio, which now includes complete solutions for the application.
The new PE resin can be used in transport of ceramic flooring, cans, soft drinks, caps and closures, diapers, pulp and paper, containers and by freight carriers (road, air and maritime) as well as in agriculture and home applications.
“As part of our corporate strategy, we strive to offer clients increasingly efficient and competitive solutions. With the launch of Braskem Flexus Cling, we become a complete supplier to the stretch film segment, with resin options for all layers,” said Edison Terra, Braskem’s Polyethylene Director.
The resin further expands the portfolio of the Flexus line, which is one of the company’s polyethylene brands targeting the film segment. Braskem’s new product presents superior load retention and excellent cling performance, even at low temperatures. Films produced with 100%-Braskem solution feature flexibility, high strength and excellent impact and puncture resistance, effectively imparting greater security during cargo handling and transportation.
The new resin will be manufactured in Brazil and serve primarily the country’s domestic market, but may be exported to specific markets. During K Fair, Austria-based SML (www.sml.at), a supplier of high-performance extrusion machinery, will run one of its machines using Braskem’s solution to demonstrate to visitors the results obtained with the new resin.
