TPE - Thermoplastic Elastomer

Thermoplastic Elastomers, recyclable synthetic rubber group, is manufactured at Ravago Petrokimya with Ensoft® (styrene copolymer-based TPE), Enflex® (EPDM-based TPE) and Ezprene® (EPDM-based TPE) brands.

As a leading thermoplastic elastomer producer in Turkey since 2001, we export over 50 countries in 5 continents thanks to Ravago Distribution Channel and strategic alliances all around the world.

Production plants of thermoplastic elastomers at Ravago Group are located in Turkey, Germany and USA. Ravago Petrokimya is pursuing leadership in its product group with a 40.000 MT production capacity and it’s R&D Center in Turkey.

Enflex - V® - TPV

Enflex-V® is our brand name for dynamically vulcanized ethylene/propylene/diene (EPDM) and Polypropylene (PP) blends. Fully cured EPDM particles that are homogenously distributed in the thermoplastic polypropylene phase give these compounds unique rubber-like properties, with the advantage of thermoplastic processing techniques. Enflex-V® range can be self-colored with the use of proper MB or provided as pre-colored compounds. Typical properties of Enflex-V® series are given below.

General Properties:
* Hardness range from 45 Shore A to 60 Shore D
* Service Temperature: -50°C - +125°C (dynamic) -50- + 135°C (Static/Peak)
* Excellent ozone, UV and weather resistance due to saturated elastomeric phase
* Chemical resistance to aggressive mediums
* Very Low (Rubberlike) compression set and good elasticity (that does not change
significantly over time) in a wide temperature range.

Special Enflex-V® series have following properties:

* Adhesion to a broad range of polar and non-polar substrates such as PP, PA, ABS, PC
* Broad product range including Halogen Free FR, improved oil resistance, improved temperature resistance, high flow and other specialty grades.
* Recyclability and lower processing costs with respect to traditional cured rubbers

* Very good resistance to “fatigue” and tear strength

EZPrene® - TPV

Most TPV products on the market are moisture sensitive. We have recently developed a new proprietary cure system and manufacturing process to make non- hygroscopic TPV products. Since these products are not hygroscopic, they do not need drying prior to thermoplastic processing. The new products have excellent physical properties. They also exhibit improved color with low yellowness for the ability to color match a wide range of colors with very little variation or color drift. These new materials have good oil resistance and mechanical resilience properties that are superior to other TPV materials.

EZPrene® series have following properties:

* Non-hygroscopic
* Faster cycle time over conventional TPV
* Very light and consistent natural color
* Easy to color
* Superior weatherability, non-pinking
* Low Odor, makes it ideal for automotive interior applications
* Good oil resistance
* Very wide hardness range
* Very soft and very “silky dry feel”
* Low fogging

Efficient processing, excellent appearance
There are currently several grades in the new EZPrene® series, ranging in hardness from 55 to 85 Shore A. Each material has been developed to offer injection molders lower viscosity which gives you: shorter fill times, longer flow paths, and lower injection pressures. And, like every product in the EZPrene® family, they are non hygroscopic, so they require no pre-drying prior to processing.
The new EZPrene® grades flow so much better and injection molding cycles can be as much as 25% shorter compared to traditional vulcanized thermoplastic elastomers.
Initial evaluations of molded parts indicate that surface aesthetics attainable using EZPrene® materials are superior to those achieved using conventional vulcanized thermoplastic elastomers. Gloss levels are low, have little variation ftom batch to batch, therefore more consistent and weld lines are much less apparent.

High performance, lower costs in automotive applications
Materials in the EZPrene® series are very stable, and they can be processed at lower temperatures than standard TPVs. If necessary EZPrene® can be processed in a wide temperature window up to 230°C without showing signs of degradation. Processing at elevated temperatures accelerates and improves bonding to other TPVs in applications such as corner moldings for automotive weather sealing.

Colorable and UV stable
In soft-touch or flexible injection molded parts, the new EZPrene® materials are ideal for hard-to fill molds, such as parts with very thin walls or those involving long or complex flow paths. The excellent surface aesthetics produced by these elastomers is particularly important to designers of automotive interiors.
An extensive body of weathering data has shown these materials to be UV stable in use. In addition, these products exhibit chemical resistance, oil resistance, and compression set comparable to thermoset rubber.
Because the cure technology common to all EZPrene® materials results in a clean, consistent natural, the new EZPrene® materials can be easily produced in black or in a wide range of colors, including the lightest pastels.

Ensoft - S® - SEBS

Is our brand name for compounds based on saturated styrenic block copolymer SEBS (styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene) and polyolef ins mainly Polypropylene (PP). The compounds have excellent rubberlike elasticity and weathering resistance. Ensoft-S® range can easily be self-colored with the use of proper Masterbatch or provided as pre-colored compounds. Typical properties of Ensoft-S® series are given below.

Eurocell 100 F - Technical Data Sheet

Eurocell® 100F, spherical beads, is produced as “Expandable Polystyrene” containing Pentane as expansion agent and flame retardant additive.

Typical Properties:
Bead Size Range (mm): 0,4 – 0,7
Sieve Analysis: 0.4 mm - 0.85 mm min %99
Bulk Density : ≈ 615 kg/m3

Application:
Eurocell® 100F, is an EPS class with flame retardant, which can be produced in density ranges between 22 kg/m3 – 35 kg/m3 suitable for high quality block molding and shape molding with a section thickness of 10 mm and lower, ensuring rapid molding with its short cycle time.
Eurocell® 100F in general, due to legal and safety evaluations, is used for industrial packaging containing flame retardants, heat insulation and for the production of high density blocks, jamb and decorative mold panels..

Packaging:
All Eurocell® products packaging are made in standard big-bag packages of 1100 or 1125 kg. The product protection is ensured by means of a content insulated plastic inner lining placed between the product and big bag.

Storage:
Eurocell® 100F, should be stored in well-ventilated storage areas with a temperatures preferably not exceeding 25°C. It should be protected against unsuitable weather conditions and direct sun light. Partially used containers should be closed as tight as original conditions, paying attention to avoid any space between the raw material and lining, and should be consumed in a short time. In order to maintain the expansion potential it is recommended to start the transformation within one month after delivery, if the package is not opened.

Process:
From expansion of the beads to block or mold shaped products, the entire transformation process is managed with water vapor.
Eurocell® 100F is expandable in a single expansion at densities between 22 kg/m3 – 35 kg/m3. The minimum density achievable may vary depending on the expander type and process conditions.
As temporary storage time in silos are 12-30 hours recommended depending on the density, atmosphere and process conditions.

General Information:
Eurocell® 100F requires to be avoided restrictively from sparks and flames during phases of processing and storage. Grounding of entire equipment and machines are required, in order to prevent against static electricity development on the product conveying lines and during product processing. Also ensure ventilation on floor level during the storage and process phases. Please make sure to read the “Material Safety Data Sheet” (MSDS), which contains entire details of the measurements required to be taken. The fire reaction of products, obtained by processing of Eurocell® 100F, are certificated as “E class” as per the EN 13501-1 standard. Depending on the obtained density and atmosphere conditions; it should be considered that products obtained by processing Eurocell® 100F may contain Pentane gas after the process, and accordingly they should be matured for a sufficient time in order to ensure the removal of the Pentane. The effect of the flame retardant additive is only released after total elimination of Pentane trapped in the final product.
