PCC grades and applications produced in Cales de Llierca:
Calprec PA. This is a non-coated version of PCC. 1,6micrsons size scalenohedrical shaped. This product is used in paper, paints, plastics and as food additive. The most featured characteristic is its “calcite” crystal which allows to have higher opacity and light reflection with a small medium particle siz . Also the oil absorption, higher than other PCC in the market, allows it to be specially appreciated in some chemical applications.
Calprec PR. A coated version with a very small particle up to 50 nanometers and spherical shape. Being a fatty acid coated is most likely to be used in solvent based formulations for its hydrophobic characteristic. Sealants, plastics and printing inks are some of its applications. The most featured characteristic is the rheology and thixotropic influence, as well as an influence in the impact resistance. Also is one of the smallest particle sizer found in the market, which is an advantage for dispersing and viscosity effects. Nevertheless, when compared with other coated PCC its reaction in chemical formulations may vary.
