Plastics Industry Colourist
Formed in 2015 Colourpol is a new venture formed by Astropol Ltd, an independent, privately owned business with a proven track record in the field of PVC colour masterbatch production. Over 20 years Astropol Ltd has become a recognised brand leader and expert in the field of PVC and sister company Colourpol has been formed to develop new business opportunities by offering colour masterbatches for an extended range of polymers including Polyolefins, Polyesters, Styrenics and other engineering polymers.
This is an exciting time for a well organised and experienced colourist from the plastics industry to join our existing team.
The Colourist role is a new opportunity within the business and the successful candidate will be responsible for various aspects of laboratory and technical work;
Developing formulations to meet the specific requirements of the customer
Managing daily colour matching, product development and quality control. Using visual judgement and instrumental colour measurement for QC decisions. Interpretation of L*a*b* coordinates and spectral data as part of colour match development.
Providing support to the production department by testing for colour, moisture, bulk density or other criteria as appropriate
New product development / colour matching to meet customer colour and technical specifications within commercial requirements Producing samples for customer approval
Carrying out production trials on new products to establish correct processing parameters and maximise output
Maintaining accurate records and inputting all data onto computerised systems
Advising on corrective action if a product is found to be out of specification. Overseeing such action to ensure product is brought within specification with minimum disruption to production.
Ensuring that any quarantine or reject materials are segregated for reuse, labelled and paperwork raised with corrective actions identified.
Authorising scale up, alternatives and rework on batch sheets as appropriate.
Communicating and managing formulations and any process conditions to the laboratory, production team and administrative functions. Maintaining accurate customer files containing all relevant trial information and reports.
The successful candidate will need to have previous experience in the plastics industry and have the ability to work flexibly in a demanding customer focused environment.
