Cooling Water Handling Equipment

SMARTFLOW Injection Molding Accessories Include Manifolds and Flowmeter/Flow Regulator systems to control Cooling Water Flow in the Injection Molding Process.

Custom and standard manifolds in Aluminium and Stainless Steel are the platforms to add Flow Metering and Flow Regulation equipment specific to each application. Options include temperature and pressure gauges in corrosion-resistant materials. Flow rate scales are selectable according to customer need.

Flow meters and regulators help injection molders closely control the amount of cooling water supplied to each circuit in support of Scientific Cooling Principles. Turbulent Flow meters ensure the most efficient cooling, making the best use of precious water resources.

In-Mold Sensors

SMARTFLOW In-Mold Sensors help Injection Molders prevent damage to valuable tooling in various positions in an injection mold.

Thinswitch is installed in the ejector housing protected by 3/16" rest buttons. Different types of these are available for your particular application.

Original Thinswitch is standard equipment for many injection molders for use up to 79.4°C. High Temperature version of this switch is the same physical size with 121°C maximum operating temperature.
Liquid-Resistant Thinswitch is sealed for use in locations where water spray is present. It is available in both standard and high temperature versions
Global Thinswitch for use with 3mm, 4mm or 3/16" rest buttons is liquid-resistant with a unique spring clip for easy installation and may be removed quickly to prevent damage during mold storage. Max operating temperature is 80°C.

Smartlock Slide Retainer and Limit Switch is designed specifically for use in molds with slides. The switch sits within a machined pocket in the mold. The plunger resides in the slide with a specially designed spring to provide resistance to accidental slide movement when the mold is closed.

Versaswitch is a core pull switch that has adjustable positioning using the included lockwasher and nut.

Electronic Flowmeters

SMARTFLOW Tracer Electronic Flowmeters comprise a group of different functions to cover a wide range of molding applications from mold troubleshooting to system monitoring.

The newest Tracer flowmeter is the TracerVM flow sensor. The TracerVM is an economical non-display model with .5 to 3.5V analog output for connection to a data acquisition system. Available flow ranges are from 1 to 15 LPM thru 10 to 200 LPM and 3/8" thru 1-1/2" connection sizes. This meter is based on the highly accurate Vortex Shedding principle.

Other Tracer flowmeters feature an LCD Display for flow and temperature in gallons or liters per minute. The basic model is battery powered and makes an excellent troubleshooting tool for mold maintenance and building shops. LCD Tracer flowmeters use a paddlewheel sensor to determine flow rate.

The Switching Tracer Flowmeter includes an analog voltage flow and temperature output and 5 programmable switch set points: Low or High Temperature and Flow in addition to Turbulent Flow.

Tracer flowmeters with LCD Display are available in sizes 3/8" thru 2". All Tracer flowmeters with LCD display include FCI (Flow Characteristic Indication) to display Turbulent Flow condition.

There is a Tracer Flowmeter suited to most injection molding applications.

Quick Mold Change Equipment

A Select Group of SMARTFLOW products are designed to aid in implementation of SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Die) in injection molding operations.

Manufacturing Engineers strive to reduce setup times and maximize machine run times, increasing profits. Setup times are reduced by converting internal operations (done when the press is idle) to external operations (done while the press is running). These products are listed below:

Duoflow Manifolds convert an internal operation to an external operation by connecting all coolng water lines to a mold-mounted cooling water manifold. Reduce water hook-up to seconds by using one connection for Supply Water and one connection for Return Water with quick disconect fittings on the ends.
SWAP Valves reduce time required for cooling line evacuation between mold changes to seconds instead of minutes while keeping shop floors clean. SWAP Valves use shop air to push fluid from cooling lines with a single handle motion. The mold can then be changed. Resume main cooling fluid supply with the reverse handle motion.
FasTie Quick Ejector Tie-In slashes knockout connection time to seconds with quick couplers and studs. FasTie couplers reside in the press ejector plate. FasTie studs are fastened to each mold in storage. When a mold change is performed, ejector tie-in is literally a snap.
