Microwaves in the rubber industry

The main benefit of applying microwaves to the rubber industry is the unbeatable speed of heating. Since microwaves heat materials in their whole volume, even large pieces of rubber can be heated in fractions of time that it would normally take. The depth of microwave penetration for rubber is a few meters which makes it possible to heat even very large pieces of rubber.

For example in the mixing department where the rubber compounds are made, microwaves are used to preheat the rubber bales on pallets, where 2,5 tons of rubber can be heated in just 30 minutes. That makes planning more flexible as well as a lot of space is saved.

Another application in the tire industry is then preheating the whole green tires before they are placed into the curing press. And we are talking about agricultural or OTR tires. Introducing microwaves to the process leads to higher production capacity on the same number of presses as well as lower energy consumption can sometimes be reached.

Microwaves are also used for continuous curing of rubber profiles. The profile is quickly heated to the curing temperature in its whole volume and the hot air does the rest. Using the microwave section shortens the whole line significantly and increases the output.

We are looking forward to meeting you at our stand. If you are looking to enhance your manufacturing process that has something to do with rubber, we are sure we will work something out!

About us

Company details

The company was established in the year 1991.

Today, ROmiLL is the leading European provider of microwave technology for various industries, with its own research and development capability as well as ample manufacturing capacity. Our expertise and experience include microwave applications for rubber (vulcanization, pre-heating), food, agriculture (hygienization of food products, sterilization, pasteurization, enzymatic inactivation, effective thermo-sensitive drying, thermal processing, thawing, tempering, and more), ceramics (drying of ceramics, sintering), building materials, chemical industry (drying of chemicals), and much more.

Another division of ROmiLL designs and delivers machines and technology for the production of animal feed and other agricultural equipment including agricultural transport machinery.

ROmiLL headquarters is in Brno, our two factories are located in Kyjov and Hrušovany, all in the lovely South Moravian region of the Czech Republic.

The annual turnover of ROmiLL is over 4 million EUR.
