Tubes

Infinite possibilities

Our production of cylindrical tubes covers a broad product range with just as many potential applications. The wound tubes offer infinite possibilities when machined to meet specific requirements. The three product categories of Etronit, Etronax and G-Etronax are defined by the reinforcement materials paper, cotton fabric and glass fabric. Tubes are supplied ranging from a 3 mm internal diameter to a 1270 mm external diameter, with a wall thickness as desired and in lengths of up to 1650 mm. The standard versions are supplied with the tubes sanded and unvarnished.

Standardised or customised

Encompassing fixed standardised grades as well as customised composites, our range of sheets covers your every need. The sheets are available in three types, Etronit, Etronax and G-Etronax. Standardised sheets are manufactured in a 1250 x 2500 mm format. The alternatives can range all the way up to 1250 x 3050 mm. The thickness can range from 0.15 - 150 mm. Our production facilities are adapted to the need of the market for quick reaction to your needs, rapid switch over of the production process and swift delivery.

Company details

Development, design, production and machining of high-pressure composite materials is Elektro-Isola's core activity. Since 1922 Elektro-Isola has built up technical expertise which is unique in the field, and today is one of Europe's leading suppliers of high-pressure composite materials. With the resources and know-how for large projects and new challenges, Elektro-Isola lives up to the requirements of the market for quality and reliable delivery.

High-pressure composite materials are structural materials which consist of 2 components - a reinforcement material and a thermosetting resin system. The two components are cured under pressure at a high temperature into the finished composite material.

The reinforcement material can be paper, polyester fabric, cotton fabric, glass fabric or glass fibre matting. Reinforcement materials such as aramide fibre or hybrid materials can also be used.

Resin systems can be based on phenol, melamine, silicone, epoxy, polyester or polyimide.

Reinforcement materials and resin systems can be combined individually. In this manner materials can be constructed with very specific properties, making it attractive to select high-pressure composite materials in preference to other structural materials.

High-pressure composites have stable geometry at high temperatures and have minimal deformation when subjected to loads. In addition, they have a high strength/weight ratio (the relative weight is approx. 1/5 that of steel and 1/2 that of aluminium) - and also important to note is that they have properties which do not deteriorate with age.

From their original application as insulating materials in electrotechnical designs, modern composites have spread to a large number of other industries, including the transport and aerospace industries.
