Screen Changers

Maag offers a suitable screen changer for any application. 12 screen changer executions in 16 standard sizes provide tailor-made filter solutions for the extrusion and polymer industries.

The continuous, double-piston screen changer of the proven CSC model range, with their process-constant function, achieve the highest quality demands regarding polymer filtration.

A wide range of filter cavity designs, e.g. woven screen, fiber metal felt, disc- and candle filter elements), guarantee fine filtration of special polymers as well as new process requirements.

Special high temperature, high pressure, stainless and explosion-proof executions are available for special operating conditions.


This all-new filter development with arched screens maximizes the degree of efficiency with 4x more filter surface than screen changer with circular screens.

Existing screen changers can also be retrofitted by simple piston replacement, offering then more than twice of the former filter surface.


This patented back flush screen changer works with two innovative, rotating-lift cylinders and provides a built-in melt accumulator for volume constant filtration.

Due to this, highly contaminated polymer can be filtered without influence to the dimensional accuracy of the final product, e.g. direct recycling from rPET to cast film.


These discontinuous single piston and flat slide screen changers are used as sturdy and cost effective executions for quality assurance.

With their compact design they are ideal for extrusion applications in which short interruptions of the melt flow during screen change are allowed.

Large Area Filtration

Reliable filtration has become a given in the production process. It is growing in importance for product quality and, ultimately, end customer satisfaction. The degree to which products have to be filtered, and the rates at which they have to be filtered, is also increasing.

That is why the filter technology team at Maag is committed to continuously improving and expanding the range of our large area filtration systems and candle screen changers. Maag filter systems are the best choice for any application that requires the highest filtering quality and the shortest possible residence times. Our engineers have developed methods to model your conditions, resulting in the optimum filter system design.


Maag supplies large area filtration systems in two designs. The customer can choose the optimum system dependent on application and budget.

Maag’s duplex polymer filtration system was designed with considerable input from users of such systems. By combining our modeling and technical expertise with a patented slide valve design with PLC controlled actuation, Maag’s duplex filter systems can be designed to minimize viscosity losses during switchovers and provide bumpless transfers.

The simplex polymer filtration systems provide large-area filtration in polymer and extrusion lines where continuous operation is not required.

extrex gear pump series

Gear pumps optimise the extrusion process of thermoplastics since they ensure a constant flow of material, generate the required operating pressure and therefore relieve the extruder of pressure build-up. This increases the production plant's performance, improves the quality of the end product, thanks to lower melting temperatures and extends the extruder's lifetime. Extruder pulsations and pressure peaks are also smoothed out or eliminated thanks to the gear pump's attenuating effect.

Other advantages of gear pumps include the facts that waste products that occur internally can be reprocessed without problems and that the pump transports the melt through the moulding tool extremely evenly, ensuring a consistently high-quality end product.

The modular construction of extrex gear pumps means that various needs and requirements can be addressed with ease. The advanced range features the characteristic quality features, superlative reliability and long service life of a gear pump from Maag Pump Systems.

All extrex gear pumps feature fully-optimised flow channel geometry, specially heat-treated shafts that can double the standing time as well as an innovative bearing design that allows higher speeds and therefore higher throughput rates. Wide ranges of viscosities and pressures are handled thanks to different clearances.

The extrex GP is recommended for standard applications, i.e. polymers that are not very or moderately sensitive to temperature and shear forces, as well as applications with frequent colour and product changes.

The special SE (sensitive) design allows even temperature-sensitive or cross-linking products to be transported. In this case, a part of product, used as a lubricating flow for the bearings, is actively conveyed outside to ensure highest product quality.

The sturdy construction of the new trudex high-pressure gear pump and the extrex HP allows them to be operated in areas that would prove too much for conventional gear pumps.
The trudex and extrex HP, with their optimised shape, meet all kinds of different requirements and as a result offer our customers completely new range of applications. Various options ensure flawless adaptation to any conceivable application, yielding the highest level of flexibility imaginable.

The extrex HV with 25% higher specific pumping volume, made possible by its special design, is recommended for standard applications - i.e. polymers that are not very or moderate temperature-sensitive and applications involving frequent colour and product changes.
