Our products

Product category: Extrusion lines for blown film

W&H - High performance blown film systems VAREX II, OPTIMEX, and AQUAREX

With the three product families VAREX II, OPTIMEX, and AQUAREX, W&H offers a broad spectrum of high performance blown film systems which excel with high productivity, superb film quality and low specific investment and operating costs.

VAREX II is based on a modular concept that allows almost unlimited configurations. From 8 μm HDPE liner film to 11-layer barrier film with only a 1 μm EVOH layer, VAREX II can produce a huge range of films – and further developments are in sight.

The OPTIMEX is an economically priced alternative and complements the VAREX range. It provides high flexibility with 3-layer films and excels with high output and superb quality film. Applications include packaging, carrier bags, laminations, and shrink and stretch hoods.

AQUAREX allows for so far unattained film properties, since it uses water for coolant instead of air. Extremely fast cooling of the melt results in keeping crystallinization low and imparts to the film a highly amorphous structure, resulting in excellent gloss and transparency as well as outstanding puncture and tear resistance.

W&H - Filmex cast film lines

Under the trade name of FILMEX, W&H offers customized cast film lines for the production of flat film for the most diverse market segments. The product line ranges from single purpose to universal application systems for barrier, PP or stretch film and also includes special equipment such as for surface protection or hygiene packaging films.

The FILMEX operates on the chill roll process. With any film construction, be it mono-layer, 9-layer or multi-layer films with 28 layers or more, the melt is cast onto a chill roll for instantaneous cooling. The resulting low crystallinization level guarantees excellent optical and mechanical film properties.

The FILMEX is capable of handling all marketable polymer groups such as PP, PE, PA, EVOH, and tie layer resins. The modular concept of the chill roll unit gives outstanding flexibility. Options include vacuum box, suction doctor, air knife, or soft box, matched automation and a variety of roll surface structures. Innovative details such as the swivelling 3-roller-cleaning system, which does away with intermittent lift-off of a smooth cleaning roll, eliminate film marks and improve film quality.

The productivity of the FILMEX can be enhanced by PROFILE BOOSTER, the patented system for fast optimized control at line start-up, or a system for encapsulating the film edges with low priced resins.

W&H - MDO*

The W&H-MDO (Machine Direction Orientation) permits monoaxial orientation of cast and blown films in-line or off-line, resulting in improved tensile strength and stiffness as well better shrink performance and higher gloss and transparency. Oriented barrier films provide notably higher barrier values than are achieved with non-oriented film. Allowing for reduced resin usage, oriented films represent a major savings potential, especially important when it comes to expensive barrier materials. The ability to use lower priced resins is another attractive aspect from an efficiency viewpoint.

BSW - tiraTex 1600

The tiraTex 1600 tape extrusion system is designed for output rates of up to 670 kg/h and line speeds of up to 530 m/min and guarantees extreme tape strength combined with maximum energy efficiency. Owing to its modular design, which allows for the most diverse extruders, dosing units, slot dies, and stretching units as well as a variety of optional attachments, the machine can be perfectly tailored to the specific process requirements as well as tape properties. The tiraTex represents the latest state of the art in terms of engineering and ergonomics and can be handled by one person, except at start-up and bobbin changes.

BSW - ecoTex 1600

ecoTex 1600 is an extrusion coating and laminating system. Equipped with fully automatic unwind and rewind units and featuring web speeds of up to 200 m/min, the machine is specially suited to the processing of PP woven fabric. The outstanding advantage of the system consists in it’s capability of coating flat fabric on one side as well as tubular fabric on both sides, in a single pass using only one extruder and one laminator. This is achieved by the incorporated turning station and a double-wide laminator. Apart from this, the machine can be equipped with an extra unwind for BOPP film, paper, and other materials to produce high quality composites for special applications. This helps reduce investment costs and renders the system highly flexible and powerful. The extruder screw is specially designed to meet the requirements of coating, i.e. higher melt temperatures and lower melt viscosity. These design criteria combined with the preheating unit for the woven web guarantee maximum adhesion of the coating as well as most economic resin usage.

BSW - Valve- and pinch-sack converting lines AD CONVERTEX and AD CONVERPINCH

The valve- and pinch-sack converting lines AD CONVERTEX 4, AD CONVERTEX CL, AD CONVERTEX SL and AD CONVERPINCH form an essential part of the portfolio, testifying to W&H's leading position in the field of industrial sacks made of woven PP. The hot-air sealed cross bottom valve sacks are used in the cement, fertilizer and chemical industries, when there is a need for ultimate strength, safe product protection against climatic influences, and the replacement of kraft paper with plastic. The robust, open mouth pinch sacks made from coated or laminated PP-wovens are increasingly preferred over high-end printed pinch sacks made of paper in attractive end-use segments, such as feed- and pet food industries. The pinch and valve bottomers are supplemented by the versatile POLYTEX tuber which produces tubes for pinch or valve sacks from process-printed composite materials or from two different plies.
