Silo and discharge systems

AZO supplies silos and hoppers for storing and discharge of bulk goods. We work with painted mild steel and different kinds of aluminium and chrome-nickel steel. Accessories such as filters, level measuring systems and discharge systems round off the product range. Vibration bottoms have largely been accepted amongst discharge systems. If required, aeration bottoms (TURBO-KONUS) and aeration jets can be used as discharge aids.

AZO® vacuum conveying system with granulate dust filtration and separation of angel hair

Preferred applications

Many plastic granulates already contain dust and fibres (angel hair) upon delivery. These contaminants primarily occur through abrasion of products during pneumatic conveying of the granulate. Too high a level of contaminants can cause a number of problems in further processing. In particular accumulated clumps of angel hair have a detrimental effect on the quality of the end product and can lead to a bottleneck of products and production coming to a standstill.

In order to prevent dust and angel hair from forming, we recommend slow, careful conveying over as short as possible distances and few pipe bends. However this is not always feasible. Frequently raw materials already contain a high proportion of contaminants when they are supplied.

Therefore the goal is to filter out contaminants at the end of conveying and hence immediately prior to further processing of the product.

Special advantages

• Dust is filtered out and angel hair is separated after conveying and immediately prior to processing the granulate.
• The system can be integrated into an existing plant with little outlay.
• There is no need to meter feeding of products
System description

Dust filtration and separation of angel hair have been integrated into AZO's vacuum conveying system and do not call for an additional step in production. There is no need to meter feeding of products

AZO’s vacuum conveying system or collective feeding normally consists of receivers with angle valves, a conveying and clean air line, a secondary filter and vacuum pump. A ventilation circuit with a separate blower is added to this vacuum conveyor in order to filter out granulate dust. With the increased volume of air, granulate dust is filtered out in special receivers, into which screening plates have been integrated as cascades. Any dust found in the clean air is filtered out in the following secondary filter.

A primary filter is also installed in front of the secondary filter to separate fibres and angel hair.

AZO®MULTIAIR dense phase conveying for short on degradation and dehomogenization over long distances and with high conveying capacity

Preferred applications

AZO®MULTIAIR dense phase conveying is a system that operates in the positive pressure range. The transport pressure range is between 1 and 4 bar positive pressure. The optimum transport pressure setting is based on the product and performance. This transport system is particularly dedicated for abrasive products such as PVC Dryblend and fiberglass-reinforced granulates as well as for pneumatic transport of foodstuffs such as breakfast cereals, instant products or milk powder with low levels of dehomogenization.

Special advantages

The extremely low transport speed is gentle on the product and transports it with low levels of dehomogenization. In addition, the wear on the system is reduced at the same time. The wide transport pressure range means that this system is particularly suited to high transport rates at the same time as for covering long transport distances. The control system is optimized for the product in question, while the targeted input of secondary air allows this system to operate with great energy efficiency.

System description

In this optimized pressure vessel transport, the fluidization condition in the bulk material is maintained by blowing in secondary air. This means the coefficients of friction between the tube and produc are drastically reduced.

The air quantity is added through standardized proportional valves, and this addition is controlled by the central control system. Optimizations for specific products are possible at any time.

Plant safety is assured by special non-return valves positioned between the transport line and injector valves. These measures mean that transport can take place with a high belt loading rates and low speeds, without blocking the transport line. System and product wear is very significantly reduced compared to dilute phase transport. Low compressed air consumption, low filter surface load and small tube cross sections means the TCO (total cost of ownership) is reduced.

AZO®VacuumPlus dense phase conveying gentle, segregation-free and extremely energy efficient

Preferred applications

The AZO®VacuumPlus dense phase conveying system is a new conveying system, intelligently combining the advantages of pressure and vacuum systems. Whenever fragile and/or temperature sensitive bulk materials need to be gently conveyed without segregation, this new materials handling technology is the solution – especially for applications with medium throughputs and conveying distances of up to 100 m.

Special advantages

The low product speed achieves a dense phase conveying with very little product segregation. This also means the conveyed product is handled very gently, with very little attrition, and therefore extremely low wear rates within the conveying pipes. It is easy to engineer such a system with many different product feeding points. Due to the low air and energy consumptions this system is very efficient, especially advantageous if conditioned air is required for conveying the product.

System description

This conveying technology is basically separated into two different versions: discontinuous operation and continuous operation. The decision of which version should be used is dependant upon the nature of the manufacturing process (either before or after the conveying stage).

For instance, if the conveying system is feeding a batching process, a discontinuous system is recommended. If the manufacturing process is continuous, then a continuous AZO®VacuumPlus system is probably more appropriate.
