MIKAPLAST micanite heater bands for plastification cylinders

MIKAPLAST heaters are heater bands with micanite insulation that are employed in the heating of the plastification cylinders of the plastic moulding machines. They can be used when the operational temperature does not exceed 280°C. KERAPLAST ceramic heater bands for plastification cylinders

KERAPLAST heaters are heater bands with ceramic insulation that are employed in the heating of the plastification cylinders of the plastic moulding machines. They are recommended when the operational temperature exceeds 280°C and in all cases presenting severe operational conditions. SPIRFLEX injector heaters

SPIRFLEX heaters represent the ideal solution when nozzles characterised by a very small diameter need to be heated. They are also suited in all the applications where the specific power or the operating temperatures are very high.
These heaters, in fact, can be provide a heating power as high as 8 W/cm2 and can reach operating temperatures up to 600°C. They can heat nozzles starting from a minimum diameter of 6 mm.
These heaters need a minimum clearance to be installed: the difference between the heater external diameter (D) and the spiral internal diameter (Di) is always in the range 6 to 8 mm.
These heaters are employed in all the plastic moulding machines. They are particularly useful whenever a limited clearance is available between nozzle and mould (e.g. in hot-chamber moulds).

PIROWATT Cartridge heaters

These heaters are characterised by a high specific power and a high reliability: These qualities are essential in the applications for which they have been conceived. These heaters can reach specific powers as high as 50 W/cm² and operating temperatures up to 750°C. PIROWATT cartridge heaters power supply cables are embedded into the heater head without junctions or stiff parts: this manufacturing solution has eliminated all the problems and allows to limit the non-heating (“neutral”) section to a 3 ÷ 4 mm. These heaters are used in the heating of moulds, plates, injection nozzles and hot-channel injection nozzles. They can be employed, inserted into appropriate slots, in the heating of all metallic masses.

Electrical Connections for heater bands

To connect the internal heating circuit to the power supply cable of the electrical heaters, several terminal boards have been developed. They are provided with specific metallic covers and insure optimum mechanical resistance, easy mounting of the power supply cable, high electrical insulation, efficient electrical contact (also at high temperatures) and minimum envelope. High power density UGL nozzle heaters

The UGL is a new family of nozzle heaters, which has been conceived to combine the benefits of PIROFLEX heaters hermetic construction with the non-hermetic PIROSLIM heaters high specific power performances (5 W/cm²). They are best suited in all the applications which do not present specific accommodation constraints or whenever the treated plastic material is corrosive. Their special construction makes them resistant to plastic material penetration thus insuring a good capability of operation even if plastic material leaks from the nozzle. These heaters are employed in all the plastic moulding machines where the operational temperature does not exceed 350°C.

ISORAD insulated protective cases

ISORAD insulated cases have been designed to reduce as much as possible the heat losses from the injection press plastification cylinders. The result is obtained reverberating the cylinder heat leak by means of a specific reflecting mirror. The residual thermal dispersion is further reduced by a layer of insulating material that is interposed between the internal reflecting mirror and the external surface.
ISORAD cases are completely independent from the electric heaters beneath and can shield cylinder sections that contain several heating zones. Installation is very easy thanks to the screw stays located along the opening axis of the case. Along this same axis, a longitudinal slot is realised, which allows to route outside the power supply cables and the temperature sensor cables of the cylinder heating system. ISORAD cases allow to save a considerable amount of the electrical energy dedicated to the cylinder heating. Tests made in our laboratory showed a saving of about 45%. In addition, their accurate construction grants a valuable aesthetical appearance to the press cylinder.

Currently, Masterwatt core business is the manufacturing of heater bands, used in the plastic industry, and of armoured heaters, employed in almost all industrial applications and inside the plants. Starting from the early 90’s Masterwatt has pursued the constant improvement of the quality of its products and of its production system, obtaining in 1997 the certification of its quality system in accordance with ISO 9002:1994 standard. This certification has been extended to ISO 9001:2000 and recently also to ISO 9001:2008 standard. In addition, Masterwatt has obtained several products certificates relevant to the production of ATEX explosion-proof heaters and can supply PED certified electrical heat exchangers.
