MEAF H-Series Sheet Extrusion Lines

The MEAF H-series sheet extrusion lines are designed to be:

Sustainable due to production space reduction, lasting equipment life and reduced total energy consumption by at least 50% compared to competitors;
Produces higher output at lower melt temperatures and RPM;
Short residence time, reduces wear on the material;
High ratio of regrind possible;
Reduction of energy consumption by at least 50%;
Operated efficiently due to compact build & operator friendly, in-house by MEAF developed, operating system “Extrusol”;

Sheet extrusion line 90-H36P

The MEAF Sheetline 90-H36P is our larger sized 90mm extrusion line, which is suitable for outputs up to 1000 kg/hr and is tailor-made for processing various raw materials (for a list see specifications on the right). The major bulk of the application areas covers the thermoforming grades of foils for disposable and food-packaging containers, produced within a thickness range of 200 - 2000 µm (0.2 - 2.0mm) and generally wound into rolls of diameters varying from 500 - 2000mm.

KMS 600 Inline combination

Direct drive motor

Extruders do normally use a transmission/gearbox between the motor and the extrusion screw. Any kind of transmission is always causing inefficiency which needs to be avoided.

To eliminate any inefficiency as much as possible, Meaf introduces the Direct Drive Motor without any gearbox between the motor and extruder screw to save energy.

Vacuum cooling

Standard cooling on the extrusion process is done by a blower beneath the extruder barrel which blows air around the barrel to bring the temperature down. The downside of this system is that the heat is lost and it gives fluctuations in the temperature distribution of the melt in the screw. On request Meaf can provide a system with vacuum cooling.

Instead of blowing, the air is sucked around the barrel into a vacuumbox and sent back to the inlet hopper to heat-up the new material and saves engergy.

Special screw and barrel design for regrind with a low bulk weight

Using high amounts of regrind in the sheet extrusion lines is something which is happening more and more these days. Especially for customers who are using high amounts of regrind material with a low bulk weights see their maximum output in kg/hr dropping dramatically for most extruders. 

To tackle this problem, Meaf is proud to present it's latest barrel and screw design with enlarged entry hole. The screw and barrel will be provided with a specially designed extra large feed zone. A materialmix, with a bulk weight of 0,2 – 0,4 mm can be used, with a minimal reduction in output compared to standard extruders.

Energysaving for extruders

MEAF Machines produces the most energy-efficient sheet extrusion lines for film and sheet available on the market! Ever increasing energy costs, cost prices which are under pressure, continuously changing demands from different markets are the basis for the MEAF H-series sheet extrusion lines!

The MEAF H-series extruders are equipped with an energy efficient design, consisting of an optimization of “key-components”, such as:

Special screw & barrel design optimized to be as efficient as possible.
Insulated heating elements
Insulated die
Optional: Vacuum system for heat recovery
Optional: Direct drive motor

Due to the optimized design of the H-series, it is possible to generate average energy consumption between 0.18 and 0.22 kW/kg! This consumption is for the complete extruder, including the calendar + haul off unit.
