HYTAC® syntactic foam for plug assists:

The HYTAC® family of syntactic foam is designed specifically for thermoforming. We have developed a full range of products that allow thermoformers and mold makers to utilize the right material for their specific part and sheet application. The Plug-assist technology allows plastics processors to reduce starting gauge, reduce cycle times and improve material distribution.

HYTAC®-W: Epoxy Syntactic foam for good material distribution. Low volumes and simple geometries.
HYTAC®-WF: High-temperature epoxy syntactic foam for good material distribution.
HYTAC-®WFT: High-temperature, PTFE-impregnated epoxy syntactic foam for easy sheet release.

A group of engineers saw an opportunity to advance the thermoforming industry. And so they did.

In 1998, we were three materials research and development engineers with over 60 years of combined experience developing high-performance materials. Working with thermoformers, tooling shops and machine builders, we found many limitations in then-available plug assist materials. We focused on the interaction between the plug and polymer sheet and developed the highly cost-effective HYTAC® product line.
