Our products

Product category: Polyethylene PE-LLD

Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE)

LLDPE is one of the major thermoplastic, with a total worldwide production of around 25 million metric tonnes per year.

LDPE is a copolymer made from Ethylene and from an Alpha-Olefin. LLDPE is a polyethylene with good impact and puncture resistance, good flexibility and high elongation under stress.

Like LDPE, the main application for LLDPE is films and sheets. LLDPE is also used in injection-moulding, rotomoulding, wire and cables.

In Qatar, LLDPE is produced by Qatofin and marketed under the trademark Lotrène®. Qatofin's product range focuses on film applications, with four blown film grades and one specific cast film grade. All grades are Butene-based. This focused industrial strategy makes for the highest quality and consistency standards.

Examples of applications are: bags, packaging film, agricultural film, stretch film, cling-film and lamination films.

Produced by: Qatofin Company Limited.

Product category: Polyethylene PE-HD, Polyethylene PE-MD

High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) / Medium Density Polyethylene (MDPE)

With a worldwide consumption of around 40 million metric tonnes per year, HDPE is one of today's major thermoplastics and the most widely used type of polyethylene (PE).  HDPE resins include ethylene homopolymers as well as copolymers of ethylene and alpha-olefin monomers such as 1-butene, 1-hexene and 1-octene. HDPE has higher crystallinity (density) compared to low density polyethylene (LDPE) and linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), which results in higher mechanical properties such as stiffness, modulus and tensile strength, higher temperature resistance, improved barrier properties as well as improved chemical resistance to a variety of solvents and chemicals.  HDPE properties can be adjusted by controlling the molecular weight, molecular weight distribution, degree and type of short chain branching and amount of long chain branching to design resins with optimum performance for different end-use applications.

HDPE is used worldwide in a very large variety of applications such as rigid containers, toys, film products, sheet products, injection-molded articles, pressure and non-pressure pipes, geomembranes, automotive parts and fuel tanks, to name just a few.

In Qatar, HDPE is produced by Q-Chem and Q-Chem II. Q-Chem and Q-Chem II have a range of HDPE products focused on blow molding, film, geomembrane and pipe application segments.

Selected examples of specific end-use applications are: dairy bottles, containers for household chemicals, large blow-molded drums, industrial liners, bags and packaging film, geomembranes, pond liners, and pipes and fittings.

Product category: Polyethylene PE-LD

Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE)

With a worldwide consumption of around 20 million metric tonnes per year, LDPE is one of today's major thermoplastics.

LDPE is a polymer made from the monomer ethylene. It is transparent, robust and at the same time relatively flexible. LDPE has excellent resistance to water, moisture and various organic solvents and chemicals.

LDPE is mainly used for the manufacture of films and sheets, but is also used for extrusion-coating, injection-moulding, injection-moulding and wire and cables.

In Qatar, LDPE is produced by QAPCO and marketed under the trademark Lotrène®. QAPCO has a full range of LDPE for the production of industrial and consumer films as well as one for coating and two for injection-moulding-grades.

Examples of applications are: heavy duty bags, pallet shrink films, collations shrink films, pouches, freezer bags, shopping bags and laundry bags.

Produced by: Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) Q.S.C.

Muntajat News

Since Muntajat’s last participation at K-Trade Fair in 2013, the company has expanded and carried a number of achievements. After completing the transition of the marketing, sales and distribution activities of twelve producing companies in Qatar, Muntajat’s portfolio now includes 11 million metric tonnes of high quality chemicals, polymers and fertilisers. Below are the highlights of Muntajat’s latest news:

In early 2015, Muntajat transitioned into its portfolio of products, Q-Chem’s High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Medium Density Polyethylene (MDPE), Normal Alpha Olefins (NAO), 1-Hexene, and Pygas. Muntajat currently offers the full range of Polyethylene products including Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE), Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE), HDPE and MDPE marketed under the world renowned Lotrène® brand.

Since its establishment, Muntajat has taken part in leading regional and global downstream events. Most recently, Muntajat returned for a fourth year in a row to Asia’s largest plastic and rubber trade fair, ChinaPlas. Mr. Yousef Fakhro, the Executive Director of Polymers at Muntajat remarked that:” ChinaPlas is the ideal platform to showcase the ‘Made in Qatar’ polymers in the Asian markets and Muntajat’s participation in the exhibition, reinforces the company’s commitment to strengthen Qatar’s position as an emerging world-class chemical and petrochemical hub. As the world’s largest economy and leading manufacturing industry, China is a key target market for Muntajat.”

Muntajat debuted its full range of Polyethylene products for the first time in Plast India. Recognised as one of leading plastics events in the industry, Plast India brought together industry experts to discuss and showcase the latest in technology, innovation, processes, products, responsible plastics management and recycling.

Muntajat also returned to The GPCA Annual Forum, the Middle East’s largest downstream event. The Muntajat delegation, led by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Abdulrahman Ali Al-Abdulla, joined industry leaders and specialists from more than 42 countries to discuss the latest development in the industry under the forum’s theme of ’Building on Achievements- Enabling Continued Success in the Changing Chemical Landscape’.

Muntajat joined industry peers to discuss the arising challenges and growth opportunities of the fertiliser industry at The GPCA Fertilizer Convention. Exhibiting at the convention, Muntajat showcased its complete portfolio of Qatar’s downstream products, including high quality Urea, Ammonia, Aqueous Ammonia and Urea Formaldehyde Concentrate (UFC).
